Wikipedia wrote:Special custom belts have been created for at least six WWE champions: Billy Graham (slightly different plate art and a red strap), the Ultimate Warrior (white, blue, and purple straps), Sgt. Slaughter (purple strap won from Warrior), Stone Cold Steve Austin (entirely custom "Smokin' Skull" belt), John Cena (entirely custom "Spinner" belt), and Edge (similar to Cena's but with an "Rated R" spinner). A belt with an exceptionally long strap was created for André the Giant before WrestleMania III, however, he never wore it as champion. Though Edge had originally designed a different custom belt for his reign, the plans were scrapped due to time constraints.

There have been two slightly different versions of John Cena's custom WWE Championship. The original belt used during the title's duration on the SmackDown! brand featured the words "Smack Down" on the right plate with a fist between the words. When the title was brought to the RAW brand, the belt was modified to feature the words "Mon-Nite RAW" on the right plate with a chain and lock between the words.

Now, it is not just Cena that has done this (changed the belt in some way), but not counting Edges look a like, then he would be the only one to ever have a spinning belt. To be honest, the spinning belts are nothing but big selling merchandise, they think because it is 'Bling' that everyone will buy it, when only the Young people are going for it. Because, I don't see any Adults rushing out to buy the belt, and I don't see the Big hype myself. WWE IMO, have not been thinking to straight about their Title actions, I mean, taking a prestigious belt, and turning it into something like Cenas, is just wrong.

Well Steven, if you look at the majority of events now, either Smackdown or Raw, if anyone has got a belt it's majorly the World Heavyweight Championship, which shows that most people dont like the Spinner belt and prefer the "Old School" belts with a simple main plate.

To be honest i think, some of the legacy of the WWE championship has being lost by taking away the oringnal design but again back to when Cena was US Champ he "modified" that belt too and made that a spinner. But back on the WWE title, Cena has taken away some of the originality of the belt and the "pride" of some of the former wearers, one of those including 'Taker. Many of the previous users haven't felt it neccessary to change the belt but obviously Cena see something wrong with a legendary belt :smt014 .

Without sounding like a smart ass, you need to remember this is WWE we're talking about not Cena. I would doubt Cena had any input in the decision to have a custom belt designed for him or not. He may have got asked whether he liked the look of it, but that's about it, and he may not have even been granted that. When people say "Cena has", I think there's a need to distinguish whether you mean Cena the man himself or the decisions that have been made for him by WWE management. I've already said it before, I don't really like the look of the belt, but at the end of the day, regardless of what that actual material belt looks like whilst Cena has it, the title he holds is still the revered status of WWE Champion.

I know you didn't intend to sound like a smartass, and maybe i worded it wrong. I know that Cena has an imput but in the end its down to creative. Your last point is perfectly correct, no matter what we all say it's here to stay but at the end of the day, it's still go the WWE logo on it showing its the WWE Title and it's not like it doesn't even resemble the title.
As you said many people don't like the belt but i suppose until we have a champ that will change it or for that fact beat "Mighty Cena" then it could be with us for sometime to come.

Bump.

There's a story out on the spoiler sites right now stating we might see the end of the Bling Bling Spinner WWE Title very soon. Supposedly, since The Miz is now the WWE Champ, the WWE might be changing the Title belt to a more customized belt for the Miz... Here's the link:

http://rajah.com/base/node/20907

I'd like it if it's actually true, and they're actually gonna change it. The Spinner belt's been around for a while. I wouldn't mind seeing WWE change their top belt to a new design, because unlike the World Heavyweight Title Belt which they should never change, The spinner belt's kind of stale. Although with that said, it still generates high sales on the toy market, and is still a better looking belt than some of the new belt designs in the industry(See the TNA Title, and the Divas Title). We'll see if WWE pulls the trigger on changing it. The general consensus I've read here in the Forums, and listening to the Podcast featured on the main site, most people don't like it.

I think people tend not to like it because it so associated w/ Cena. That being said it really is a bit over-the-top and silly. I wouldn't mindseeing WWE change it to something more clean-lined. They did a nice job w/ re-vamping the last ECW belt. So, maybe they could manage it. The Butterfly belt I don't even want to talk about. :p

I didn't like the Newer ECW Belt. I'll always like the ECW Taz Belt. The Spinner belt's ugly, but it's not that bad. They could come up with a much worse design a'la:

When you compare the TNA Belt, to the spinner belt, the Spinner Belt doesn't look too bad, unless it's pictured next to more classic designed belts.

It looks cool, but no re-design will be made any time soon as long as Cena is around

Cena didn't make the decision the belt was to look like it does. Vince made that decision.
