i believe all the fans on this forum will be saying 'none of them' but if you had to choose which era would be the one you did not really like, what would it be. in my opinion i would choose 'big evil'

Okay, people are gonna HATE me for saying this and I wouldn't be surprised if I get locked outta here, LOL, but here it goes: The Ministry and The Big Evil Era. Before you ban me, hear me out. I liked the first part of The Ministry, but when Steph and Vince got involved, etc. It took away Taker's creativeness and potential for some AWESOME storylines.

The Big Evil period to me just seemed a little too yokey, for lack of a better word. He was a Bad Ass dude that was melodramatic and going around screaming "Damn!!!" all the time. However, he did have his moments. So, if you are talking an era 100% I didn't like, you're right, there is none. If you're talking abouit an era that had moments, but overall, didn't thrill me, then those are it. :smt003

For me it would be all the times the Undertaker was the biker. I loved him as the deadman - that is what he will always be remembered as. That's not to say there were not any good moments with the biker, however, it was not the persona I liked.

No way.
Without it he wouldn't have had the success he had, and we won't be here today, cheering for him.

IMHO his worst era was the Ministry one.
No surprise it was so short...

I'd have to say the Ministry. Like Grendel said, no wonder why it was too short. Even Taker said he didn't like it.

He probably didn't like it because it was a little too satanic. I know Taker's the deadman and all, but if you look at him as Original Deadman and Ministry, there is a big difference. In his theme song, you could here him say these foreign words and chants, creeped the hell out of me.

I see some people saying 'Taker didn't like the Ministry, I could be wrong but I've never heard or read him say that, he's said he didn't like the formation of the Ministry and the Corporation which is an entirely different thing. He wasn't against the santanic persona, afterall he was taking it in that direction, he was against the merger of the two factions which meant he was part of something that wasn't created by him.

I liked something about every persona, I have my personal favourites, but if I were forced to pick one that I liked less than the other's I'd have to say the Badass. The only reason I can give is that the other persona's had something extra that the Badass possibly lacked. Maybe he was just too human in that facet. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the persona. That's what makes UT great, there's something for all his fans, what other wrestler can you categorize like him.

I believe that Dan is correct. In fact, the man says something to this effect in the "This is My Yard" documentary that it (safely assuming The Corporate Ministry) was a low point in his career simply based on the fact that the faction was not a direct derivative of the character of The Undertaker. And who can blame the man? Obviously, with the McMahons stinking up the feud with their presence, the focus was shifted from The Deadman (who was the initial focus) to the McMahons, specifically Vince and, to a lesser extent, Shane.

Give me any of his personas, even the Mininisty one, over those biker gimmicks. American Badass, Big Evil or whatever they called him. I did stop watching wrestling when Undertaker turned biker mainly because it bored me. I grew up watching the "dead" Taker gimmicks, but that biker did it for me. Once I heard rumors of his return to it at WMXX, I got excited yet doubtful because I didnt' want to get myself wound up, then hear it was untrue.

Thank God it wasn't just a rumor but a fact :smt001

This is a tough question. Depends on how you look at it. I don't like anything before 1996. Strange as it may seem. I don't HATE it, but I just don't like it. Maybe it's cause that's the least I've seen of him as and it's a little too vintage for me. Might just be that I'm too young to appreciate it as much as others. I was only like 4 at the time.

Or, I'd have to go with the Corporate Ministry. It took the spotlight off of Taker. I don't hate the Ministry cause that's my fave. But like it's been said, when Vince got involved, things went downhill.

I have nothing against the biker verison. That's one of my top favs. Sure some things that happened I don't like, but I still like that era.

well i'n generally a fan of all of the Taker eras. i never saw the Ministry era. i don't know if that was really great or not so that. Perhaps Big Evil debut because he kept getting beaten up by hogan and Triple H.

Yeah, but all of those beatings that he suffered, especially at the hands of Hogan, led him to his first reign as Undisputed Champion. :smt003

Oh yeah thats true. :smt001
But i really kept thinking fondly back to his face days at WMania X-7, and so forth when he could out punch Triple H, unstead of him rushing up to face Hogan in tag team match and suddenly crumbling before a smaller, older and weaker guy than him, during the Triple H - Undertaker - Hogan fued, right before he won the belt.

In fact didn't Triple H, like beat him REALLY badly right after Backlash?

Well being such a loyal and true 'Taker there isn't any era that I haven't liked. However, from a character perspective, I guess I would have to say it was very weird for me when we were first introduced to the American Bad Ass in 2000. As it evolved into the Big Evil persona I feel it was better, but as the Bad Ass, I just don't think that was true Undertaker in the ring but more Mark Calaway, not that there's anything wrong with that but it's just looking at all the Undertaker eras over the past 16 years it is probaby the era I least enjoyed.

I grew up with the Original Western 'Taker/Deadman/Lord of Darkness personas so I think they have a special childhood element associated with them which make them such fond heroic memories. I also actually liked the Ministry persona because I loved the Austin/'Taker feud and it was cool having the Undertaker as a heel for the first time in many years. Admitedly the novelty of the Ministry of Darkness/Corporate Ministry concept did fade away but I can't say there was ever a time when I hated it. That just leaves the current 'Taker era which you've just got to love seeing as it's Original Deadman, the Phenom is just a huge fan favourite and he's like the best thing about SmackDown!

So, Luke's verdict: American Bad Ass

Exactly, if I remember correctly in " This is my yard" he said that he didn't like the fact that with the Ministry/Corporate Ministry the attention shifted from him to Vince McMahon.

I have to agree here too, his superhuman-like Undertaker persona is what hooked me to wrestling :smt006
