Taker hasn't retired... if he did, the wwe would have had a farewell parade for him. now with that said, I doubt that we will see taker in 2011, the guy needs to heal his body and come back as good as new for wrestlemania in 2012.

Now if taker was to have his final match for the WWE at wrestlemania it would have to be against someone special... no one on the wwe's roster deserves to compete against taker in his final match. A third match with Triple H at mania would seem pointless and stupid. Taker should have his final match against some rising star in the company and in my opinion the best candidate would be The Miz. Should taker put him over? I'm biased on that one

These rumors get old. This one seems to hold a bit more weight I guess. If this is semi-retirement, then so be it. His body needs the rest. He really has nothing to prove anymore as well. If next years' Mania's his last match, then I'd rather he faces Cena. That's the 2 biggest names in the Company. As for the Farewell parade, that'd be alot of good chokeslams to finish out... :smt005

I really don't quite get this...3 seconds ago, it was planned that he'd be back this year..even as early as Summer Slam, albeit part-time. Weren't people saying he looked really good at Wrestlemania this year? Taker's return was still being mentioned during most of last week, as Michelle retired, even to the extent of it being reported that she might be back when he was and going to Raw w/ him....so I wonder what brought the change. Did I mention I hate the rumor mill??? :smt019 :smt009 :smt014 I hope Taker isn't as bad as this current report suggests, whether he wrestles again this year or not.

As in Taker chokeslamming the entire group of farewell parade participants...

I doubt WWE would do anything like a farewell parade for him, though it would be a good thought for all his sacrifices he's made throughout his career. If next year would be his final match, I'd rather see him inducted in the HOF the night before his final match instead.

He is almost retired. He will maybe have one or 2 more matches but we have to admit that it is over.

Thank you Undertaker!!!
Now I dont have any reasons left to watch WWE.

Check out this new report according to wrestlingpronews.com

The Undertaker is currently pencilled in to make a return at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view this November, marking 21 years since his debut at the event and the company is currently planning out who he will face at next year’s WrestleMania pay-per-view in Miami, Florida. Original plans called for John Cena to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28, before The Rock agreed to face Cena.

Taker has permanent damage to his shoulders and was told that they would never be 100%, however he is willing to fight through the pain on a limited schedule with the WWE, before eventually evaluating his career going forward with the company, post WrestleMania 28.

Personally, I don't know what to believe. Some reports go that he's retired, some that he'll return at summerslam, some he'll return a week before mania to pick his opponent and now this. Taker's health is also very much in the news some claim he's in perfect shape just a bit tired after the mania match, some say he's injured too bad hes basically retired, some say he's recovering and then this.

All these reports claim they got these news from "sources within the wwe" total bullshit.

We'll just have to wait and see what the WWE really has in store for Taker's last run.

P.s Luke I'm not posting any more rumours in this thread cos they don't hold weight and yes we do have the newsboard for posting all this nonsense :smt015

It's fine. As time goes on, the rumour that's been going around for the last 10 - 11 years that the Undertaker is going to retire has to come true one day, right? lol.

'Taker is in really bad shape, that's not to say he hasn't ever been in bad shape before, but injuries over the past 2 - 3 years have really taken their toll and his most recent shoulder injury was a really bad one, made worse by the fact that there was a significant period of time before he first injured the shoulder and had surgey. He wasn't anywhere near 100% come WrestleMania 27 and probably shouldn't have wrestled, but we all know that both he and Triple H wanted to be on that card and give us the best match they physically could. The match against Triple H at 'Mania won't have helped with his rehab and his shoulder will never be 100%.

Just by nature's course, of course these retirement rumours hold more weight as each year passes and there probably is considerable argument that this most recent injury has done a lot of damage, shortening the rest of his wrestling career. Of course, now that his wife has supposedly left WWE and reportedly has desires to settle down and have a child, this certainly adds a bit more fuel to the retirement rumour fire.

These are all still just rumours and it is still a game of wait and see. Realistically, I didn't ever see his career going beyond 2015, but the end may come sooner. I do see him returning to WWE later on this year, not sure when exactly, but how long left he has with the company is less certain. Going out on a high such as 20-0 at WrestleMania next year would certainly be a fitting end to a long and storied WWE career.

As far as rumors go, this particular one seems to be alot more agreed with. I'll just say, that hey he was in the game for a long while, the same gimick or variation of it. He seems to have mad respect from wrestlers/fans a like, I never of him seriously being called "has been", so to retire with that is mad cool. Good on him.

Ive said before I would like undertaker to take a non wrestling position such as GM if it means we get to see him each week, I record WWE these days and watch maybe 20 min a show as its so dry without him. Cena, the miz, randy orton, michael cole are long playing records, the nexus and corre story lines have went on way too long, in the past a team would come to demolish them, i keep thinking bragging rights will have 1 fight the other to disband and the raw GM story should have ended when vince returned.

I dont like seeing matches such as undertaker being beaten by people like Kozlov, I mean come on this is the undertaker, its been said for a very long time that if undertakers streak is to be beaten or he is to have a retirement match he wanted Kane to be the one to end it as they have been good friends for a very long time.

Personally considering the terrible buried alive result I would like next wrestlemania to be an inferno match with Kane, undertaker to win and that to close the streak, since he has not had the titles and win/loss record he deserves and gets used as a right of passage to elivate young blood the WWE want to make big, it would be nice for him to go to the hall of fame as undefeated at Wrestlemania but I think they have pushed the fact that the phenom is the streak and he will only fade away once that has ended so sadly it is likely his last match (baring a edge style health issue) will be a wrestlemania defeat.

All this talk about retiring are just rumours. I do believe we'll see him before the year is out.

Wrestlemania 28 his last match? Simple answer... NO.... why?

CENA VS. ROCK thats why

WWE are going to build WM28 around Cena/Rock, so that would overshadow 'Takers retirement. Thats not going to happen. Whenever Mark does retire, then the WWE are going to make a big deal about it, trust me. They'll be teasing it for a long time.

So basically it would be a bad idea for 'Taker to "retire" next year at Mania because of Cena/Rock. I'm not being big headed or anything, of course 'Takers health is the main concern. When 'Taker does retire then the WWE will make that the highlight of the night, not being overshadowed by a match.

Agreed?

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. The WWE won't end a career as great as the Undertaker's just like that, they would turn it into a big event, and let him retire on high note. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let Taker's retirement become second place to a singles match at Wrestlemania XXVIII. Taker is far too important to the WWE and the WWE universe for them to let that happen.

Normally I'd agree too but was there not something recently to the effect of injurys are too severe and he has been asked to become a trainer for new talent behind the scenes?

Nobody really knows how bad his injuries are except him and maybe a small amount of people. We're just speculating. As for him becoming part of the talent development, well thats just speculation again. We first heard about it because of Sean Waltman saying him, 'Taker and HHH were at FCW looking at the talent there then all of a sudden everyone is saying he's got a new role.

People are forgetting that he usually takes time off at 'Mania and in the past hes been at FCW looking at talent, but now all of a sudden hes got a new role in WWE. In my opinion its just something for him to do whilst on his annual break. When he does hang his boots up then its pretty obvious he'll have a backstage job in WWE but at this time no one really knows whats going on its just pure speculation. My opinion is we'll see him again at Summerslam or the latest Survivor Series.

I honestly dont know what to think about all the talk of Taker retiring, I do know that every year the same rumours of his retirement creep up and every year they fall through and he continues to show up on our screens. I think anything that doesnt come directly from the WWE or from Mark himself should be shrugged off and ignored. Mark has the most respect for his fans and the business so if he was going to retire he would be the one to tell us. Not leaked from a source within the WWE.

Over the years hes probably been the most impressive and one of the greatest wrestlers i have ever seen so in my opinion if he is going to leave he isnt going to do 1 more match at mania and then walk away hes going to give us a final few month build up and leave fighting all the way with a massive final match.

Either way im greatfull for the time hes given us and if he is retiring i wish him all the best in future and thank him for the years hes givin us.

I can remember retirement rumours as far back as 1994 so I always take them with a grain of salt and a rolling of eyes! I think Taker has so much respect for us as loyal fans that he would make it obvious that the end was coming, not in a 'loser leaves town match' way but there would be something telling us to get ready.

Undertaker Retiring!?

Postby Takerfan_316 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 4:25 pm

I know there have probably been as many threads as rumors of Taker retiring over the past several years but I beleive that this time the possibility is much greater.

While I agree with JR when he said that the WWE would want to make a big deal out of it and send him off in style (much deservedly) but based on the past few weeks I think it is looking more and more like it. With Trips refusing to face him again and Taker looking almost wistfully at the WM sign then this past monday Trips saying he feels sorry for him and basically playing up the fact that the old Taker is finished and he is clinging to life at this point.

Then last year they made him look very weak and had him carted out (gotta say I thought he was hurt for awhiile and thought that HHH had him when he tombstoned him).

When I saw the promo Monday (epic on both sides by the way) I began to feel in my stomach a feeling of dread at the tone of both great superstars. It did feel like this is the last run for one of them and I felt like it was Taker and while I would hate to see it maybe it is time.

Any thoughts?

TAKERDEADMAN has been saying this for a long time. This is IT! Of course I don't WANT it to happen but, come on, this is the year it will happen. Taker VS. Kane - Hell in a Cell, Fire and Brimstone, Buried Alive, No DQ, No Pinfall, No Count Out, Last Man Standing, Fire, Smoke, Fog, match. The stipulations - IF Undertaker loses, the streak ends, NOT, this will not happen, if Kane loses, HE must retire, WHEN not IF, WHEN Taker wins, the streak remains intact however, Taker must also retire. That way, both retire with thier heads held up really high, and Taker retires 20-0. Then next year they both get put into the Hall of Fame, TOGETHER.

TAKER VS. KANE
TAKER VS. KANE
TAKER VS. KANE

REST ... IN ... PEACE.
