Extreme Rules 2010

The official promo poster for this year's Extreme Rules PPV:

Image

I notice they've gone back to the original "Extreme Rules" logo they used in 2008 instead of using the modified 2009 version. Not much else to say about it really seeing as it's one of those ones which just features a photo of a WWE Superstar on it, and I don't want to say that the gingerness is scary as I don't want to offend! Oh how I jest! :smt003

That is quite a scary looking poster. Looks like an angry ghost hehe. But what will bother me about this ppv is that its supposed to be 'extreme rules' but I doubt it will be extreme.

I agreed Dark_Lady_18 not much Extreme happens anymore. Let face the only time you see extreme anything is in the Hell in the Cell and the Elimination Chamber.

All I have to say about the poster is, thank god Shemus has ginger hair! Because if he didn't, he would just blend into the whiteness lol considering how white his skin is. But yes I must agree it is pretty scary looking, but it suits the persona of Shemus.

The poster looks like a Steven King movie poster... I just saw Sheamus in a bit part in a movie called Legend Of The Bog... Pretty funny movie, if you like cheesy horror films...

hey Luke ! How ya been ? Long time man. The poster looks completely cheesy like a bad horror flick you know. Sheamus and the background flow well don't they :smt005
also hoping sheamus kicks HHH tonight. Nothing personal really....

I think "Extreme Rules" as a concept Pay-Per-View is actually quite a good one.

The problem is - WWE are overdoing it. The excitement about Extreme Rules is that every match on the card is a gimmick match, something you don't see very often. But that concept goes out of the window when there's a TLC event, a Hell In A Cell event, an Elimination Chamber event - and it just means that the gimmick matches become overused and less exciting. I actually do like the gimmick pay-per-views, but when other pay-per-views in the year are intended to be special because of their gimmick matches, it's borderline overkill.

Having said that, I'm quite interested to see where they'll go. If it takes over from Backlash by featuring Wrestlemania rematches, then it'd be great to see them with the added twist of the gimmick. Keep them fresh.

But I guess we'll see once tonight's out of the way!!!!!

Following on from Raw and SmackDown this past week, after Sheamus's steel pipe attack on Triple H, and as we are all aware of Triple H's fondness of a sledgehammer, perhaps we'll see a "Weapons Match" style Street Fight between these two at Extreme Rules.

If you're gonna gimmick up the World Heavyweight title match then I say a Triple Threat Ladder Match between Swagger, Jericho and Edge would be a good one.

Mask vs. Hair seems the way for Punk vs. Mysterio.

As for the WWE Championship, perhaps Cena vs. Batista in an "I Quit" or Submission Match, after Batista tapping out at WrestleMania, for Batista to quit a second time at Extreme Rules would be rather poetic. I don't think this damages Batista's character too much either, because it's more about playing on his heelish self proclamations of strength and being unbeatable as opposed to simply being portrayed as weak. To avoid the latter, a Last Man Standing Match would be equally doable. However, just thought I'd post this from the PWInsider:
Batista is scheduled to begin filming the WWE Studios film "Killing Karma" in the New Orleans area on 4/13.

Depending on his filming schedule, it will be interesting to see whether Batista is "sidelined" out of action for several months or whether, at least, he is taken out of the WWE Championship picture either before or at Extreme Rules.

On a whim, I'll throw Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase in a Steel Cage Match as a test to whether, in a singles match, DiBiase can escape the vise and venom of The Viper or not.

Erm.....a Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match for the Unified Tag Team Championship: ShoMiz vs. MorTruth vs. Hart Dynasty vs. I dunno, name another tag team, Croft & Barreta? [side note: how many tag teams do we actually have left in WWE?]

I'm sure some kind of crappy Handicap Hog Pen Divas Match will get thrown in there.

Batista's been talking retirement when his contract ends. He'd like to concentrate on acting... Maybe he takes a sabbatical of some sort afte E.R...

With regards to all the gimmick matches, and PPVs, I agree with 3XT. They have enough gimmick PPVs. None of last years' new gimmick PPVs garnered large increases in Buyrates. Alot of the more seasoned wrestling fans were more fond of Armageddon, Backlash, No Mercy, etc... Alot of these new gimmick PPVs are pushing the stips too much. I'd love to see them concentrate more on better wrestling than a Baking pan Match.

I think Luke's right in his prediction of Sheamus/HHH being a Weapons Match... Some of these matches are gonna be predictable as to how they'll be stipulated... That's the first one... Cena/Batista will be easy to predict due to Batistas' upcoming film...

Tut, what?! CM Punk didn't get his head shaved! Tut! This was the only "Extreme" thing worth watching this PPV for so now I won't bother. Cost me a point in the Predictions Contest this one! This sucks, man!

I was suprised of that myself, they have been shitting all over CM Punk lately. He deserved that win. Jack Swagger had a good match as well, which he usually does. I allso think he has shown he deserves to be where he is.

Jericho and Edge was good, I did not like that they made Jericho crawl around crying like a little bitch tho... :smt014 he doesnt deserve this treatment. One of their biggest talents and they continue to treat him like trash. :smt009

Good to see Punk won... I get tired of seeing Rey always get over Punk...

As for Jerichos' treatment... It's WWE... Most of the time they don't know how to treat a man of his talent...
