ECW Results 08/04/08

Joey Styles and Tazz are at ringside and tonight we get a contract signing for the ECW Championship.

The Miz (with John Morrison) vs. CM Punk

Funny how when The Tag Team Champions don't team up, they have one entrance, but as a team, it is two separate ones. Morrison calls CM Punk having the briefcase a piece of luck. The bell rings and Punk eyes Morrison before locking up with Miz. Miz backs Punk into the ropes, but Punk reverses and eventually breaks. They lockup again and Punk gets a headlock. Miz bounces Punk off the ropes and gets taken down with a shoulder block. Punk goes back to the headlock and the same thing happens. Punk gets a near fall and does a grounded headlock. Miz back up and he reverses into a headlock. Punk bounces Miz off the ropes and gets downs with a shoulder lock. Miz taunts and runs into a drop toe hold. Punk grabs the leg and kicks away at the knee. Punk gets a two count and goes t work on the leg. Miz trips Punk and slingshots him over the top rope and to the floor. Punk gets the apron, but gets distracted by Morrison allowing Miz to knock him off and into the announcer's table. Miz drills Punk into the ring apron and rolls him in for two. Miz with a chin lock, but Punk gets up quickly. Punk bounces off the ropes and he runs into a clothesline for a two count. Miz hits some forearms, but Punk nails a spin kick. Punk hits the springboard clothesline and Morrison goes for a distraction. Punk turns his back to The Miz and walks into a leaping clothesline. Miz gets a two count and the ref throws out Morrison. He backs up the ramp as we head to a commercial at 6:30.

We are back at 9:51 and The Miz is pounding away on CM Punk and gets a two count. Punk is put on the second rope and Miz pounces with crossfaces before bouncing off of CM Punk's back and over the top rope to snap his neck back for a two count. Punk gets locked in a surfboard, but gets to his feet and rolls into a two count. Miz drills Punk with an inverted DDT and gets another two count. Miz jumps on the back of Punk and goes back to the chinlock. Punk back to his feet and he escapes with elbows. Both men go criss-cross running until Punk ducks and both men hit each other with a clothesline. Both men to their feet at eight and Punk lays Morrison out with a backfist. Punk follows it up with a spinning heel kick. Miz in the corner, but he gets the boot up as Punk charges. Miz charges out and Punk hits a huge powerslam for two. Miz backs Punk into the corner and hits some shoulders. He whips Punk into the corner and hits his leaping splash, following with a slingshot elbow for a two count. Punk hits a leaping kick to the head out of nowhere and catches Miz with a kitchen sink knee to the head. Bulldog by Punk and then the GO2SLEEP ends the match in 14:38. One hell of a match!

Winner: CM Punk

Backstage, Estrada welcomes in Colin Delaney and Tommy Dreamer. Colin wants to talk about getting a contract. Dreamer cuts Estrada off and says Colin wants to earn a contract, not get one handed to him. Estrada then makes a match for tonight with Tommy Dreamer taking on Colin Delaney. But Estrada says that if Dreamer loses, he is fired. If Colin wins, he gets a contract. Estrada walks out and Dreamer just stares at Colin.


Back from the break and Armando Estrada is in the ring for the contract signing. Chavo Guerrero is first to some out, flanked by the Edge-Heads. He takes a seat at the normal far chair as Estrada introduces Kane. Joey has to wonder what is going through every mind of every ECW wrestler if they wish to be ECW Champion. Kane places the ECW Title on the table and sits down. They almost come to blows immediately, but both men sit back down as Estrada asks for decorum. Kane is asked to sign first and does so as Chavo questions whether he should do it or not, as he will sign away the ECW Championship. Kane says he signs cocky for a guy who lost in eight seconds. Chavo says Kane cheated and attacked from behind, but that it can not happen again as he says someone will be watching his back. Kane goes to him and Chavo attacks from behind with the Edge-Heads. It becomes four on one as Kane gets nailed in the head with the ECW Title. Kane is placed on the table and Chavo Frog Splashes him through it. Chavo takes the contract and signs it after the destruction. Kane is slightly cut on his head and we are left without knowing who Chavo's backup is.


Elijah Burke vs. Nunzio

So, we finally get a chance to see Burke be used in a good way. The bell rings and Nunzio gets a headlock and tries to take down Burke, but can't. Nunzio gets an arm wrench, but Burke reverses into a hammerlock. Burke whips Nunzio off the ropes and hits a huge back body drop. Nunzio gets hung off the ring apron and then gets his head kicked in. Burke takes some punches to the gut and hits a kick to the gut. Burke puts Nunzio on the second rope and runs off the ropes. Burke connects with his slide through the ropes and Nunzio's head. Burke drills Nunzio with a huge German Suplex. Burke wanted the Elijah Express, but Nunzio is out, so Burke just uses the legsweep/STO combo to end the match at 2:47.

Winner: Elijah Burke


Domino vs. Kofi Kingston

Domino comes out solo this week to take on the undefeated Kofi. We go to pre-taped interview with Kofi, who just hypes himself. The bell rings and Domino throws his shirt of Kofi. Kofi with a single leg takedown. Kofi gets thrown to the ropes and he slips through the legs and does it again. Kofi with an arm wrench, but Domino brings him back to his feet. Kofi whipped off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, and connects with a body press for two. Domino backs Kofi into the turnbuckle and whips Kofi. Kofi reverses and he leaps onto the second turnbuckle. Kofi hits a few right hands and a shoulder block. Domino reverses a whip and catches Kofi going for the leap over, connecting with a face plant. Domino stomps away and lifts Kofi up for a backbreaker of sorts, but Kofi slips out and hits a huge right hand. Kofi send Domino off the ropes and hits a huge jumping back elbow. Air Jamaica connects and Kofi brings Domino back to his feet. Domino reverses another whip and ducks under the cross body attempt. Domino heads off the ropes and walks right into the Trouble in Paradise Kick for the three count at 4:02.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Backstage, Kelly is talking to the latest Diva Search winner, Eve. Layla says there is room for only one Diva Search Winner and is she sees her again, there will be problems. She walks off and we go to a break.

Back from the break, we look at highlights from the four on one assault on Kane from earlier tonight. Next week on ECW... The Brothers of Destruction Unite!

Contract vs. Contract – Tommy Dreamer vs. Colin Delaney

Colin Delaney comes out first... with an entrance video and huge pop... but still no music. Estrada is sitting at ringside to watch. To remind us all: If Colin wins, he gets a contract, but costs Tommy Dreamer his own contract. The bell rings and Dreamer with a takedown on Colin, but he gets to the ropes. Colin tries to take down Dreamer, but Dreamer gets him down with a fireman's carry. Tommy Dreamer hits a huge bodyslam o the kid. Dreamer blocks a right hand and talks trash, allowing Colin to roll him up for one. Dreamer backs Colin into the corner and hits a huge hip toss. Dreamer lines up Colin and charges, but Colin pulls the rope down to send Dreamer to the outside. Colin leaps off the apron and hits a flying body press. Dreamer rolled into the ring and Colin hits a slingshot swanton for a one count. Oklahoma Roll by Colin gets a one count. Dreamer hits a pumphandle slam for a two count. Dreamer sends Colin up top and follows, but Colin knocks him off. Colin tries a dropkick, but Dreamer dodges it. Dreamer whips Colin into the turnbuckle and Colin gets the boots up. Colin tries to grab Dreamer, but Dreamer shoves him face first into the turnbuckle. Dreamer locks Colin in the Tree of Woe and hits the low dropkick. Dreamer finishes Colin off with the DDT to gets the three count after a little more than five minutes.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Estrada applauds the match as Dreamer check on Colin after the bell rings. Dreamer and Colin talk and sort of embrace after Colin gets to his feet as we end the broadcast.

Undertaker will be on ECW next week with Kane it is being advertised and is also on WWE.com. Maybe this "associate" will have a hand at backlash ( you think).
So maybe next week we will have Kane and Undertaker vs Those 5 Losers LOL

I typed 'kane' (note the lowercase) in my search bar in FireFox and it came up no matches, so I assumed you hadn't posted the full results. Now I look and I have 'Match case' checked.

After saying I would watch ECW last week I completely forgot about it. I will try to catch it this week, but I can't see it happening. However next week I will be watching without a doubt - Undertaker's on the show....

Hold on, I've honestly just remembered, I will be attending that show, so of course I'll be watching! I assume 'Taker will be on SmackDown as well, so that means I'll get to see the guy on both shows next week. Awesomeness! Expect some photos and maybe a video from the event.

Lucky you !! Watchin Taker twice in a night. Well i saw taker once at a wrestlemania revenge tour match after Wrestlemania 21 in London.Be sure to get a video and post it.Hope you have fun.Here is to Taker whippin everyones ass next week(If You Stand Before Me You Will Fall Before Me).

I watched ECW and I didn't like it. I wanted Kane to own Chavo.

So did I but a storyline cant always be one sided.......hey ( Hits himself on the head) Hulk Hog's were.Anyway we have wrestlers these days so It is a balanced storyline and this is what we can expect.We have a new Mikey Whipwreck of the Original ECW.Looks like when the WWE is confused what to do it just opens their previous storyline file and randomly and foolishly picks one out.Originality will lead to dominance

Kane used to be like Khali, but better. He dominated everyone. 1998-2002 he was awesome. When Kane used to be in a rivalry it never was even, he usually owned. (Except Undertaker in 1998, but that is different. )

Hell he used to dominate Undertaker even in the match at Wrestlemania XIV. But in modern times his feuds with Khali,MVP,Henry, Big daddy V have showed power shifts and not an all out dominating storyline have they ??
