What do you do at your job IX?

I check expiry dates of whatever they can think of for no pay, under the guise of work experience.

That sounds like a crap job. So I'm making the assumption you don't get any type of pay for doing your job at all?

You'd be correct. I hoped I'd learn stuff. I haven't. Still, I suppose it looks good on the CV (resume for you yanks)

Any job experience looks good when you're starting out. Good luck with getting something better soon.

Thing is it was pointless because the experience I gained was negligable. Except that some drug companies endevour to find new ways to make expiry dates illegible.

And I'm heading back to Uni in a month or so, so it's nearly done.

Pharmacy, which means I'll need to find a low payed job for a year to get fully qualified. Still, easier than becoming a doctor.

How many years at the University before you get fully credited to do that job?

Ah yes, I remember you mentioning this before. Well, Mr. Trainee Pharmacist, I have been on so many and am still on so many different drugs recently/at the moment that you could probably rattle me, lol. It's rotten, I just feel a bit sick and tired all the time!! :smt020

4 years (3 of which i'm yet to do) and a year of 'learning on the job' more or less.

Good luck with that. I'm gonna be heading to a Technical Institute for Computer Technician training, and I also might pursue Graphic Design too. It's a two year course to get my Associates Degree, but I'd like to transfer to do 2 more years, and get a Bachelors Degree in that field. Then I'll consider myself Job ready.

Ed, a buddy of mine who lives in South Illinois got laid off recently, and he got unemployment to pay for him to take his A+ Certifications and his Mac certifications. He just got a job in IT for a major bank, so computers are definitely a great area to work in.

That's good news. It's a growing field. I got approved for all of my Pell Grants, and Aid for the Schooling. It's covered for 2 years. Now I don't have to apply for work til I get my Certs. The Pell Grants are now actually covered under Unemployment now. I'm going to ETI, which is a good Technical Institute. I'll see how job ready I am once I complete 2 years, but I still think I'll need to transfer. I like what I've read about those 2 fields.

I'm just having bad luck these days. On top of a breakup and my dad's accident before that, last night my stepmum's dad, my grandad, passed away. Damn, life's really giving me a battering.

Sorry to hear that Dark_Lady. :smt009

I can empathise - my boyfriend's grandfather died a couple of weeks ago and his brother goes in to hopsital tomorrow for major spinal surgery on Wednesday, so things suck a bit at my end too at the moment.

Thanks, Dark_Lady. From what they can tell so far, the surgery has been a success. It's only been 5 days since the operation, so it is still very early days, but the good news is that he can move his arms and legs! :smt001 He's bed-bound in hospital for another couple of weeks before they consider letting him go home - he'll probably need a special bed and no doubt a whole load of other medical support will need to be put in to place, but it is the beginning of a long rehabilitation process now.

On a more personal whinging note, I just thought I'd post this in order to vent and get it out of my system.....

[I was just about to copy and paste some from Facebook, but I can't because when trying to log in I'm getting: "Sorry, an error has occurred. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can." Oh the irony!]

I was off work two weeks ago with a bad muscle spasm in my neck/shoulder, I am going to the hospital for weekly sessions of physio, last week I had to go there three times, one time because they had to redo my blood tests as the lab hadn't processed them properly, hence my arms are all bruised, oh, and on Friday I woke up with a rash and a sore throat, I have tonsillitis and am now on antibiotics. On top of that, I am mega busy at work and am now on a stage 2 sickness absence performance and capability procedure regarding my time off....good times! Oh, plus my rent is going up next month!

There! That's better!

That's quite a bit of bad luck. Hopefully your boyfriends' brother makes a full recovery quickly. Hopefully you feel better too soon. I can empathize on the shoulder part. I partially tore my rotator cuff in my right shoulder about 16 years ago, and it's arthritic now. I tore my rotator cuff in my left shoulder 3 months ago. I haven't had anything done to it, and don't plan on it. The doc said surgery, I said no... I like how you said good times. We always say that when things go wrong. Hopefully all gets better for you.

Thanks Ed, appreciate that buddy. :smt001

I had no idea that your shoulder was that buggered up! It must give you quite a lot of grief! How come you opted not to go for surgery may I ask?

I opted out from the surgery because I have no insurance at this point in time, and I can't afford to be inactive while looking for a new job. It doesn't bother me as much right now, but my strength is severely limited in that shoulder now. I'm rehabbing it with rubberbands daily, and I'll hopefully have it back somewhat to what it was before I popped it good. When it happened, I was working out at the gym doing seated presses. My armed waivered, and it popped, and I felt a rip. Then my shoulder joint was sticking out of my armpit. Kind of disgusting now that I think of it. I'll be alright. Thanks for asking Luke.
