Thanks, Dark_Lady. From what they can tell so far, the surgery has been a success. It's only been 5 days since the operation, so it is still very early days, but the good news is that he can move his arms and legs!

He's bed-bound in hospital for another couple of weeks before they consider letting him go home - he'll probably need a special bed and no doubt a whole load of other medical support will need to be put in to place, but it is the beginning of a long rehabilitation process now.
On a more personal whinging note, I just thought I'd post this in order to vent and get it out of my system.....
[I was just about to copy and paste some from Facebook, but I can't because when trying to log in I'm getting: "Sorry, an error has occurred. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can." Oh the irony!]I was off work two weeks ago with a bad muscle spasm in my neck/shoulder, I am going to the hospital for weekly sessions of physio, last week I had to go there three times, one time because they had to redo my blood tests as the lab hadn't processed them properly, hence my arms are all bruised, oh, and on Friday I woke up with a rash and a sore throat, I have tonsillitis and am now on antibiotics. On top of that, I am mega busy at work and am now on a stage 2 sickness absence performance and capability procedure regarding my time off....good times! Oh, plus my rent is going up next month!
There! That's better!
