Over The Limit 2010

Postby Luke » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:02 am

An early ticket sales promo poster for the event, so we're yet to know whether the more mainstream PPV promo poster will look the same.

It's already been said by others in another thread on the Forum, but I'm a little bit surprised they've gone for a PPV name so similar to Over The Edge where Owen Hart met with his tragic death 11 years ago to the exact date of Over The Limit.

first off, that is one badass poster, which given its non fake look and Edge's pose will be the real one. Secondly, I wonder what the theme of the PPV will be.

Awesome poster. It's been 11 years, sooner or later they should be allowed to move on, it was in fact an accident.

Hmm....yes, it was a tragic accident, but the fact that they've gone for a name so similar to Over The Edge for a PPV on an anniversary of Owen's death is a little bit distasteful, wouldn't you say? It's almost like it's been done out of making a point, after all, there are plenty of names they could've chosen. I thought the main reason why they scrapped the Over The Edge PPV name and never released it on VHS/DVD was out of respect. Even though 11 years have passed, I think it would've been more widely acceptable for WWE to have continued such a stance of respect and decency for someone's memory.

Me too. One guess would be that the matches have some kind of time stipulation, perhaps a Beat The Clock element for a series of matches and/or an Iron Man Match for the main event? You could also have a Royal Rumble-esque Battle Royal where a competitor enters every minute or so.

I'd love to see an Iron Man match. I thought the Orton/Cena falls count anywhere match was great. However it's tough to find an in-ring performer who can keep us amused for an hour.

A triple threat maybe? Christian vs Orton vs Kofi? Highly unlikely I think though. That would be a match I would watch for an hour.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a 60 minute Iron Man Match, it could be a 30 minute. If we were to see an hour long match, I agree, I think we need some great wrestling talent in there, perhaps Jericho vs. Edge, Jericho vs. Swagger, Edge vs. Swagger depending on the outcome of the SmackDown main event this week and Extreme Rules.

A Triple Threat Iron Man match would be amazing! Edge vs. Jericho vs. Swagger - could be a great tool to put the kid over.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I'd love to see the Iron Man Match. I can see a guy like Morrison thriving in that type of match. Morrison/Swagger would be a good test for this style of match, but I doubt WWE has that type of confidence in these 2 for that type of match. Morrison would bring the high flying, fast paced element to the match. Swagger could bring the methodical, technical style to the match, which would provide a slowed pace in spots for these two to catch their breath, and then ramp back up to a high flying pace again. WWE would have to be very detailed in how they would attempt to construct this matchup so it doesn't look weak, if it was to happen. Swagger, and Morrison would be my 2 choices for performers in that type of match.

Not that I encourage this sort of behaviour, but does anyone have a link to a site that may be streaming Over the Limit tonight.....?

Crikey, third consecutive post in a row from me, the Forum seems pretty dead at the mo. So....I have read from reports that there were several injuries sustained at last night's Over the Limit PPV. I haven't seen any of the PPV myself so I'll be interested to read your reviews if you did happen to watch it.

James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor reported that CM Punk suffered a pretty nasty cut during his match with Rey Mysterio which required 13 surgical staples and that Batista suffered a lower back injury during his match with Cena. Was there also blood stoppage during the Batista/Cena bout?

I've done some reading and I still can't find a concrete update on Randy Orton's shoulder injury which brought forward the end of the match sooner than planned, but it's thought to be a possible separated shoulder, which could put him out of action for up to 3 months depending on the severity. This is bad news for Orton and the fans in my opinion as Orton's face run was really picking up the pace, offering us an alternative main event face to John Cena on Raw.

Most worryingly, according to Caldwell, is that Ted DiBiase showed clear signs of a potential concussion (now a confirmed concussion) after being knocked for six by a hard slap from R-Truth, yet the match was not stopped and an injury check conducted accordingly. I must admit, this doesn't sound impressive in accordance with the Wellness Policy. So, matches will be stopped when there's blood in case some parents complain that this breaches the PG rating, but when there are perhaps less physically visible and offensive looking injuries, despite serious health implications, we'll hold back shall we? Not good.

That sounds like a very poor ppv...I haven't seen it yet. Luke, I can hook you up with streams for any sporting event in the world, buddy. Just remind me before the event next time so I can let you know what the links are gonna be.

I don't know what's worse - if Ted is seriously injured in his head, that could be a career ender. Losing Orton is a big blow to the company as well. I get stopping it for blood, but not stopping the match for a concussion? BAD.

Stopping the match for Blood is stupid. It's even worse when they ignore a potential concussion. Bret Hart would agree with that. I didn't see the show. From what I've read, I didn't miss that much. With regards to Ortons' Shoulder injury, he's had so many problems with that Shoulder in the past that in this case, I don't think rest alone is gonna help it. He's injured it a few times now. They tend to be more prone to injury after each time it gets injured. Trust me on that. I dislocated mine yet again, and am now looking at possible surgery because I can dislocate it now with ease. I hope he bounces back quickly. I like his face turn. I'd like to see him surpass Cena, and become the Face of the WWE.

There are varying degrees of shoulder dislocation, it does not have to be too bad. But sinse he has that hyper shoulder thing it may even help him?

Cena will probably sabotage Orton before that happens.

The way it sounds, is Orton could be out 3 months, but we'll see. The last time I popped mine, it was sticking out of my armpit. Thats the first time I fucked it up like that.
