R.I.P. Sir Oliver Humperdink

Former Wrestling Manager great, Sir Oliver Humperdink passed away at the age of 62 years old. Humperdink managed in the old territories in the NWA. He managed in Florida, a short stint as manager of Lex Luger in his Rookie year, and a longer one with Kevin Sullivan. He also managed Sullivan in Jim Crockett Promotions when Sullivan signed with that Promotion in 1988. He also had a short stint in the WWF as a manager in the early 1990s. He was diagnosed with Urinary Bladder Cancer early in 2010, and refused to go through Chemotherapy to fight the disease.

I know most of today's Wrestling fans will not know who Humperdink was, but I found him to be a very effective manager in the 80s, and early 90s. He's the type of character that WWE is sorely missing since Managers aren't used, and don't fit the current WWE style anymore. He was definitely a throwback manager, and compared favorably to Captain Lou Albano when he was a heel manager in the late 70s/early 80s.
"Now with that being said, you did a pretty good number on Paul there... But if you ever disrespect me like that again, I'll rip your throat out and choke you with your own tongue". -Taker to Big Show. 9/2/99

I only heard small bits of information about this wrestler from my late father- and I wished I payed more attention about what he shared with me =/. Nonetheless, my prayers also goes out to him and to his family and I know that his contributions to this sport are extraordinary
