The following is from PWInsider.com:

Details are still sketchy but the word coming from backstage at the Raw taping is that WWE champion John Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle during his main event match against Ken Kennedy. He is tentatively scheduled to undergo a MRI tomorrow to examine the severity of the injury. I don't have to tell anyone reading this what a major blow this would be to the entire company if Cena needs to be out for any extended period of time.

The injury appeared to happen during a botched hiptoss on Kennedy that ended awkwardly with Kennedy landing atop Cena. Cena then nailed an armdrag. The two ended up in the corner, which led to a clean break. Cena backed up to the opposite corner and was obviously favoring his arm immediately. Cena gutted through the match and post-bout angle with Randy Orton, where he was laid out following a RKO on the announcer's table.

Cena is scheduled to main event the No Mercy PPV this Sunday in Chicago, Illinois against Orton in a Last Man Standing Man.

yup it looks true and I say I wish Cena well in recovery but man did he need to lose that championship so even though it may be a "major blow" to the company it might actually be a blessing in disguise for the WWE. No Mercy might be a good PPV after all

well thats royally smeged up the WWE's plans. the question now is whether or not Cena is going to do the 'Taker thing and do that match and either lose and say that he got injured by orton in the process of the match or have him win and have orton give him a 'concussion', orton brqags about doing so on the next Raw and orton can win a tourniment or whatever and become the champ that way. either way orton's becoming champ soon. (famous last words)

While it would be a big loss to lose Cena this could help both the WWE and Cena himself. For the WWE it makes the title picture fresh which they have been in dire need of. As for Cena he has pretty much been working non-stop for the 3 years he has been champion or chasing it. As champion you have to make the most public appearences and all the other stuff to go along with it, so to say Cena might be worn down by this point could be an understatment. This could give Cena a much needed rest where he can have some time off and his character can also recover and become more fresh when he returns. I never had a problem with Cena, I actually think he is one of the best talent they have and I think some people don't know what they have in him, but this title run is way to long and has to end. In the short term I suppose this is bad for WWE, but long term, this can be a good thing for both of them.

Believe me, this won't be that huge a loss to the company. People were getting sick of Cena holding the title, so (and I hate to say this, but) this is what the WWE needed. They needed a reason to have another Superstar step up and take control. Now they can give the title to someone else and let them carry the company. This is the time for WWE to start allowing other superstars besides Cena to make there way in the company, people like Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin, Jeff Hardy, & others. This isn't a blessing in disguise, it's a blessing, period.

Besides refreshing the WWE title picture wth John Cena's injury, it is also giving him a break from the constant tours and appearances that he makes, plus he can avoid hearing fans boo him. Whilst recovering, he (and WWE as well) can come up with new ideas to refresh his character. He could possibly become a heel again, unless he is too popular. :smt014 Anyway, good luck with the recovery, and get a better gimmick.

Damn. Hope he gets well soon, poor guy. But I agree with Dark Lady 18. This will give him some time to take a break... Jesus, when was the last time he had a break? Might be good for him. And it'll definately be good for the WWE. They seem unable to do anything right...until someone gets injured. Then they know exactly what to do somehow.

So, if he is injured to the point that he's going to have to take time off, I'd give him a hell of an ovation (something I haven't done in...a long time...) if instead of just "abdicating" the title, he went through the match and lost, kinda like what 'Taker did. That would dispell any doubts about his passion for the fans and the buisness. So this might end up being a good thing for everyone.

Get well soon, Cena. :smt002

Damn, he's going to be out anywhere from 6-8 months. Huge blow for WWE and Raw, but this is Orton's time to show how he can handle being the top dog. He has to be the one to win it on Sunday. But as to who he feuds with remains to be seen. The only logical one to slide in is Triple H.

Poor Cena he is great wrestler but it is good that someone else can get the title, maybe there send Taker to Raw other wise Raw could go down hill.

Yes CENA IS INJURED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHOOOO The reign of terror has ended....WHOOOO!!!!!

Randy should get the title or maybe have triple h get it to become and 11 time world champ. But i hope to see Randy have it more than triple h cuase he deserves it more and hasn't held a title since 2004 and it wasn't even that long of a reign. But this is a blessing in a tragedy and some would call it because Cena is injured but now that means someone else will get the title and the reign of terror is indeed over...

Wooo! Yes, he tore his tendon! I'm so glad he's injured and has to undergo surgery! Oh wait that's cruel. :smt014

Not that there's ever a good time to get injured, but a few days before the PPV you're headlining...that's pretty unlucky. I also think there was a good chance Cena was dropping the title to Orton at No Mercy, despite being on the losing end on Raw, but who knows.

Now things get interesting. A new WWE Championship match and they need someone to fill the void left by Cena. Jericho would fit nicely.

Well , This is really a very good news . Finally , Cena will lose his title but sure i wish him to recover soon and yes this is a big blow for WWE .

Im happy that now we will have anew champion at No Mercy even that the title will back to Cena one day ,LOL . I think Taker maybe the next wwe champion .Think about it guys , Taker dosent have a match at No Mercy and now they have to remove a big name to Raw so Taker maybe the choise .I know that the idea of moving Taker to Raw is kinda impossible but injuries can change anything and i think that Vince will think of Taker .

Huge blow for the WWE obviously. They just can't get a break now can they? With all the injuries and suspensions, its been a bit of a rough year.

As for Cena, Its too bad the guy got hurt but it'll be nice to see someone other than Cena hold the strap for awhile, which I'm excited for. To be honest, I think RAW will be able to survive without Cena. They have a bunch of main eventers to get by: Orton, HHH, Umaga, Kennedy, etc. Furthermore, King Booker and Lashley will return, along with Jericho, so I think Raw will be fine.

Speaking of this WWE championship. lol in the WWE Polls. Val Venis in the lead for the person who people want to see walk out with the WWE title. lo that got me laughing. not sure if WWE will even bother with the poll anyway, but its hilarious btw. but if Val somehow gets it, I'd be surprised and I think he deserves somewhat of a push since he's been around for a long time. and somewhat still liked by certain fans while orton is 5 percent.

^ I LOL'd hugely at that too. Val Venis leading the poll by 33%. Hey, in a year where the Great Khali was given the World Title, I wouldn't be surprised by anything.

As for the Cena situation, it's unfortunate but at the same time may be a great thing for both the company and for Cena himself. Not that I'd wish injury upon anyone, but this is going to force WWE to freshen up Raw's main event scene, which can only be a good thing. It's no secret that the 'Super-Cena overcomes the odds YET again' thing was wearing very thin with a lot of people, so it'll be a good thing to see that belt on someone else's shoulder.
Which brings me to another point in the plus column, hopefully they'll get rid of that disgrace of a Championship belt and bring back the old WWE Title belt. :smt006

As for Cena himself, the injury is a chance for him to disappear off the WWE radar for a while, recharge his batteries, maybe freshen up his gimmick somewhat for when he returns. Heck, maybe before he comes back, he'll even add a 6th move to his repertoire! :smt003 (Joke)
Plus, when he does return, if he has to forfeit the belt, which is the vibe I'm getting from WWE.com at the moment, they've got a readymade angle for him when he does come back; going after the belt that he never actually lost.
