Ooooh, swerve! Things worked backwards in the world of Smackdown tonight as the usually saved for ‘screwing’ The Undertaker tactics, worked instead in his favor for once! Interesting. The Chairs match was a first for the company and very much misunderstood, nobody really knew what it meant. I had good money on it being a violent version of musical chairs and whoever was left without a seat lost. But I was proven wrong. Chairs were simply legal to use in the match, and use them they did. Though not as much as they could have done. However, when Batista used some sneaky, underhanded tactics to cheat his way to a win, Teddy Long came out to play and reversed the decision, re-starting the match and giving our guy the chance to retain his gold. Okay, so it’s nice to see things work for the Deadman for once, how many times have we seen him screwed over using the exact same tactics?
But while it’s fresh to see it work in his favor, this has got to be the last false finish of a match. Surely. It’s becoming a joke now.
Anyway enough of what I think and on to the Play by Play courtesy of NoDQ.com
After some promos, we go to the ring for the next match where all chairs are legal. Out first is Batista. The bells toll and out comes the World Heavyweight Champion. The Undertaker makes his grand entrance before we get formal ring introductions.
Cole announces that while chairs are legal in this match for use as a weapon, you can be disqualified for other reasons and there are countouts.
Batista bails to the floor at the sound of the bell and goes right for a chair, but Undertaker doesn’t allow him to use it. Back in the ring Undertaker hits a quick clothesline before pounding on Batista in the corner. Taker stomps away at Batista for a bit before sending him head first into the turnbuckle. Batista is able to fight back with a clothesline of his own, but when he goes for the pin, Taker kicks out at one. Taker sends Batista to the outside.
Taker sends Batista head first into the steel steps, but when Taker goes for a chair shot, Batista buries his foot in Taker’s midsection and sends him head first into the stairs. Batista tries to send Taker into the barricade, but Taker reverses it and Batista ends up flipping over into the timekeeper’s area. Taker tosses a couple of chairs in the ring, but when he goes for a big kick on Batista, Batista ducks and Taker ends up being hung up on the barricade. Batista hits Taker with a big chair shot and uses the chair to choke the Undertaker.
Batista sends Taker into the ring post and he tries to hit him with a chair, but Taker ducks and the momentum shifts. Taker sets Batista up for his big apron leg drop and he hits it. Back in the ring, Taker goes for the cover but Batista kicks out at two. Taker tries for Old School, but Batista counters and Taker ends up sitting on the top turnbuckle. Batista tries for a superplex, and after a little bit of fighting, he’s able to connect, but again it’s only good enough for a two count.
Batista sets a chair down in the middle of the ring and he tries for the Batista bomb, but Taker counters with a back body drop sending Batista down on top of the chair. Taker and Batista trade blows in the middle of the ring with Taker getting the advantage, but it doesn’t last long as Batista fights back with a big spinebuster that’s good for a near fall.
Batista wedges a chair in between the top and middle turnbuckle before going back to pounding on Taker. Batista tries for a clothesline, but Taker ducks and comes back with a leaping clothesline of his own. Taker hits a nasty shoulderblock and goes for Old School again, connecting this time.
Taker hits snake eyes in the corner on Batista, but Batista comes right back with a spear. Batista tries for a cover, but he can’t hold Taker down for the three count. Batista picks up Taker and drives him down on a chair with a big spine buster. Batista teases the Batista bomb, but he finds himself caught in the Hell’s gate out of nowhere. Batista is able to fall over into the ropes and force a break of the submission.
Batista bails to the floor to recover and when Taker tries to follow out after him, Batista hits Taker with a chair shot to the throat. Back in the ring, Batista tries for a spear, but Taker moves and Batista connects with the chair he set up in the corner earlier. Taker tries for a pin but Batista kicks out at two. Taker signals for the chokeslam, and he connects, but again Batista kicks out at two.
Taker tries for the tombstone, but Batista counters out and pushes Taker toward the ref. The ref turns his back and Batista uses the opportunity to hit a low blow. Batista hits a huge chair shot straight to Taker’s head. He pins Taker and gets a three count.
Winner and New World Heavyweight Champion: Batista
After the match, Teddy Long is out and he says that even though the usage of chairs is legal, a blatant foul is not. Long says he won’t allow the World Heavyweight Championship to change hands on such a cheap act, so this match will be restarted.
Batista tries to get a quick chair shot, but Taker gets his foot up. Taker hits a chair shot of his own and follows up with a tombstone. Taker pins Batista and this one is over.
Winner: The Undertaker

I didn’t watch the ppv, but I was glad that the decision was reversed and Undertaker pulled off another win. I am also glad to see that his title reign continues. This surely has to be the making of a long reign. (I hope so) I can’t wait to see what unfolds on Smackdown. Good to see that Undertaker isn’t screwed over for once. It seems as though the only way anyone can defeat him is by cheap antics, but it’s obvious as to why. It’s The Undertaker we are talking about. Continue your reign of dominance Taker.

As glad as I am Taker retained, why the hell is there DQ’s in a chairs match? I know it was chairs legal only, but how does this make sense? Anyway who cares Taker won. I do see him losing it at the Royal Rumble though because I don’t see him carrying it into WM26.

As I said in a blog which is yet to be published, I am sure that Taker and Cena are going to duck it out at WM 26 for Brand Supremacy.
Now Cena is knocked out by Shaemus, so I am sure that the title will change hands in the following weeks on Raw. This will keep Cena engaged until Elimination Chamber.
As Taker had won this match under controversial circumstances, for sure Taker and Batista will once again wrestle in Royal Rumble and I think Taker will drop the title at the Rumble.
In Elimination Chamber Taker will fight for a rematch which he will lose again.
Then Taker and Cena will start a new storyline around WM 26, and will go on to have a Brand Supremacy match at WM 26.

to be honest, though i am happy Taker got the win, but this match i surely didnt liked.
and on a personal note i thought Taker was wobbling too much and didnt looked healthy.
i will get lot of thumbs down for saying this, but i think this match was not to the level of Taker’s excellence. And the ending was very bad and unnecessary!. To be honest i would rate this match a 1 out of 5….it was not a good match, specially with Taker in it! I can never count of batista but was thinking Taker would do good, but to me this match was not at all to the PPV level!!!!

That was the worst ppv I have ever seen, Shamus beating John Cena That was a fix, macintyre beating morrison another fix bitchy mccool beating mickie james, another fix at least our man kept the title thanks to long and what made my night DX beating Jeri-Show. I hope the wwe creative team are not going to give macintyre and shamus a long title reign.

Cena and Taker will fight for many other reasons, but not brand surpremecy. I’m not sure how they will start feuding, but I highly doubt it will be a celebrety guest host picking Cena to represent Raw and Teddy Long picking Taker to represent Smackdown. Taker doesn’t fight for the glory of a brand, he fights because someone needs a good arse kicking.
That aside, I thought the match was pretty good, but as it seems it is leading to the rumors of the Batista beating Taker for the title at the Royal Rumble. This is leading two the two of them fighting in a no holds bar match or any match that involves no DQ. Anything can happen in the WWE as it was proven tonight so we shall see.

Like the commentators at WM when Undertaker faced Sid Vicious said THE UNDERTAKER is the most SCREWED SUPERSTAR in the HISTORY of the WWF. None of you haters in these rooms get it. lmmfao. I can guarantee you that McMahon has his cronies reading these chat sites and other opinion sites enough to know that Screwing the Dead Man at this moment will be bad for business, this championship reign is a gift for the 20 years of LOYALTY, good sound business strategy beings as if there are no true Superstars on Smackdown to carry. Yes, there are those stupid spoiler sites that repeatedly say the Undertaker will lose the title to Batista at the Rumble, No way in Hell that is going to happen folks. It makes no sense for Undertaker to lose the title especially to Batista, losing the belt this quickly is a total disrespect the reigh of the Deadman, he has looked weak, and not domineering as the Dark Persona should be. How are you going to have Batista who has to use a low blow to beat Undertaker, then you have him beat him cleanly? John Cena has his title rematch @ Royal Rumble. At the Rumble The Rock will be the surprise entrant and Win the Rumble. Cena will have his rematch for the title at the rumble and lose by interference by Orton, only to win the elimination chamber, and the next night on Raw challenges Sheamus and Orton in a 3 way for the Title and Wins, The Rock Proceeds to Challenge both the Undertaker and Cena for both Titles at WM. The Rock will turn Heel and screw Cena and Undertaker will win the Unified Titles, creating the new Ministry, and setting up next years WM match Cena v Undertaker. The ECW is Folding, Edge will return, and so will Jeff Hardy, and you will have Christian and others returning to Smackdown. So there will be feuds galore. Remember all you pessimists out there this is the ERA of The Undertaker and his reign will not end anytime soon. Undertaker the Unified WWE Champion, look for the Undertaker to start dominating matches like he used to.

He can beat cena anyday a week….but unlike a long reign title…. And i cant believe as well when some of people think that taker’s gonna get beat by batista without gettin some payback…just like he got beaten by brock lesner back in big evil era and never got a chance for a payback.

its good to see the phenom as WHC for another month or untill he gets screwed again before the rumble well done taker. ……..but what bothers me is people hating on shaemus and macintyre its about time i say that we have fresh champions im sick to death of seeing cena and randy orton as champ its been that way for the last few years BORING it opens new doorways for new rivals shaemus vs randy ok its randy but i would pay to see that match its somthing fresh as for macintyre same again somthing fresh and i think its high time for some new blood to rule the coop because lets face it the superstars of today are not going to be here forever. But as for cena taker at WM26 ok it would be a good match but WHY CENA AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i would rather see a long title reign it would be better to retire [when he does not any time soon] to say he had a long run as champ than I BEAT CENA AT WM26 whoop di do. Well, I thought the PPV wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either, just average like the rest of the gimmick PPV’s.
1 – Taker won; though some say it’s nice to see Teddy helping Taker not to get screwed, I think it was a bad call. If Taker was booked to retain why to let Batista win it and lose it like that, Taker should have won cleanly with no reversed decision. Taker should have sit up after the chair shot and tombstone Dave to end the match, period.
2 – This really feels like Taker will drop the belt next month unless they decide that Taker will defend the belt at WM, but chances are slim since there are loose ends in storylines that might cause Batista to get the title. I mean, Vince is still up to something and he needs to come out and say I want to ged rid of Taker, Batista can’t do sh*t without a belt and if the heel thing is going to work they need him as champ and then we have Rey waiting to shine at WM, too many things to consider in SD!
3 – Tonight’s RAW should give another hint at the possible Cena/Taker feud if they have something like that planned

Even when Batista turns heel he still manages to get the same outcome out of the match. Both Undertaker and Batista have had a long history of losing in a controversial fasion ( words from someone who hasn’t actually seen the PPV yet) but from reading about it I’m somewhat skeptical about the whole thing. I would assume it would have been in the interest of WWE to have Batista win that’s if he did use the low blow to attract full heat for the next PPV. I personally believe the outcome made both wrestlers look weak. (character wise not performance of course haha)
Since The Undertaker broke away from Paul Bearer’s control i always liked having him win matches without the help of anyone outside the ring, it gave him full dominance in my opinion. Although it is refreshing to see again that the WWE (tv) authority is backing away from the heel gimmick (vicki g, corporation, corp ministry)
But then again I’ve never really been worried about the storyline these days anyway, I’m with everyone here who’s shooting for a Cena/Undertaker WM match. For all I care they can bring back cena’s old gimmick back and have this start with a rap battle between them making this match in order to get street cred………Who would like to hear Undertaker battle on the mic? anyone?

pretty good ppv the ladder match was pretty sick, mcyntire vs morrison was pretty good and i’m glad to see that wwe is pushing mcyntire, the womens title match was ok, cena vs shaemus was pretty good and it left the entire wwe universe me included in shock when after only being in the wwe for a few months shaemus became the new wwe champion which by the way i think is pretty awesome and i’m glad cena is no longer champion, taker vs batista wasn’t a great match but it was pretty good and of course i’m thrilled that taker retained in the end, orton vs kingston was a very good match and personally i’m glad randy won and finally dx vs jerishow was very good, they did a lot of new never before seen stuff like dx winning with triple h holding a piece of a broken ladder and shawn climbing it to win the titles
overall the best ppv of 2009 better than wm in my opinion even thoughwm had the match of year hbk vs the undertaker

Poor Mickie!!! I agree with you. McIntyre defeating Hunky John Morrison? NOOOOOO!!!!!! That was totally fixed! i think mcintyre paid the script writers. DX deserved to defeat Jeri/show they were pathetic. Personally i see a enraged batista try again for gold this Friday. And i forsee a dangerously HOT but madder than we have ever seen him, John Morrison take down Drew McIntrye with sort of “taker”ish maddness. I feel for Mickie James though, i HATE michell mccool. I hope you are right and im glad someone agrees with me it be stupid for taker to drop the title at RR he should hold it till at least the bash or summerslam the latest look at JBL when he was WWE champ he got a lengthy run cause it was his time running out as a main event wrestler he had 10 months deadman deserves the same not 3 months. Cena vs taker at mania 26 great idea or Taker vs jericho would be nice 2. Batista in my view hasent done enough to as a heel to get the WHC od like to see Mysterio cost batista the title a RR letting em go out in a last man standing match at Elemination chamber with a Typical Rey upset. 1 interestin note in Birmingham (UK that is not Alabama haha) theres a picture of John Cena as WWE Champ Taker WH Champ and they are looking at eachother as if theyre fighting 1 another. So Cena should get title back and Taker must be remainin champ for the forseeable future, which personally is absolutely amazing

I tell u what if Undertaker creates a new Ministry to shorten his time in the ring like he did in ’99 cuz of his groin i wouldnt care ‘Taker on tv n just being there n competin a few nites or ppv’s is still awesome to me. If theres a new Ministry brewin substitue the rock for Kane now thats scary haha
I was very surprised to see Sheamus win the belt so soon. How many times has a wrestler won a belt within months of his entry into the WWE? Even Taker took 1 year to win it for the first time – as happy as I am to see Cena losing, this is not fair ;-) !
For those who are thinking of Taker changing his character or restarting the ministry – that is not happening. Taker does not go back into the past, he always evolves into something new. And his current persona is a culmination of all his previous ones, having traits from all of them in the attire, wrestling moves, style, etc – so there is nothing more you can add to it except small bits in the attire and entrance here and there (which is why he keeps changing the sign on his tights, the style of the flames in his entrance, and occassionally comes out in the LOD jacket without the hat).
Taker vs Cena at Mania – I am still not convinced. Cena losing the belt was silver gold titanium platinum for me, but Taker losing the belt at the Rumble? I am against it. I’m assuming this is Taker’s long title reign because he was given the belt very quickly upon his return (even though he was not 100% healthy) and then he was given fatal four way/ triple threat and tag matches on most of his appearances (apart from promos) to give him a light schedule while still remaining champion. If the WWE was so intent on keeping him champion through this while he was healing, then it has to be for a long duration otherwise he wouldn’t have won it in the 1st place or he would’ve dropped it by now. My guess is that Taker is holding on to the belt until Mania and beyond it, unless he gets injured. And since Taker won’t goto Raw, his Mania match would be the Smackdown main-event for the title. Cena is not getting drafted to Smackdown because if he had to, then he would’ve lost his “Cena-leaves-Raw-if-he-loses” match to Randy Orton. For the same reason, I don’t see him winning the Rumble or challenging Taker.

It definitely can’t happen at Mania that way because they would have to be in 2 different title matches (Raw and Smackdown main-events) if they are champions at that time. That is the only way to maximize the utilization of your main-event talent, give significance to both your brands, plan and proceed the story-lines for both brands, and maximize revenue for the business from the fans.
My guess is still that it would be Taker-Jericho and Cena-Batista. Why Taker-Jericho? The feud started but then cooled down instantly as the WWE perhaps thought that they were hurrying it. Now that Jericho and SLow have lost the tag belts, they will break off soon, and now that Jericho was shown the way out of Raw by DX, he will probably come to Smackdown and become the new contender for the title. I do have to stop back and think that why did WWE make Batista the # 1 contender for the belt if he was not going to win it eventually, but for the time being, I’ll be happy thinking that was only a filler. Though I could be wrong there – the other possibility is that Taker loses the belt to Batista at the Rumble and then that would make a lot of other things which happened to make and keep Taker as champion senseless. Why Cena-Batista? It started in Summerslam 2008 but didn’t end. If both of them don’t have the belts and are not in the title matches at Mania, they will be ideal candidates for the brand supremacy match and it is very easy to plan it that way. This time, Cena will probably win since he lost the earlier one.
Poor Mickie!!! I agree with you. McIntyre defeating Hunky John Morrison? NOOOOOO!!!!!! That was totally fixed! i think mcintyre paid the script writers. DX deserved to defeat Jeri/show they were pathetic. Personally i see a enraged batista try again for gold this Friday. And i forsee a dangerously HOT but madder than we have ever seen him, John Morrison take down Drew McIntrye with sort of “taker”ish maddness. I feel for Mickie James though, i HATE michell mccool. No offense Mayank. Somehow I agree with you, (about Beth Phoenix) but Mickie James really is neat. Her jumping and dancing inspired me to become a smackdown diva when im older. You see, I love singing and dancing. So thats why i look up to her. Beth Phoenix and Maria are nice but they dont seem to have the same energy as Mickie James. Im huge fan of the Undertaker but if where going to be fair about it shouldnt Batista be the Champion since there is no DQ in this type of match?
Being fair, Taker should not have been screwed out of the title like he was a hundred times in the last 20 years of his career. In the beginning of the match, Michael Cole announced that while chairs are legal, you could get disqualified through other means. So I think that as per the rules, this was fair.

i am getting sick of matches like this ending them some1 coming out and restarting it
that and people being added to the match at the last minute ruins it completely
but i agree with the wwe title and intercontinental titles changing hands were a mistake neither man did anything to earn it. shameus is the champ as he is HHH’s training patner mcentyre is IC champ as he is mcmahon’s favourite new guy and back up by HHH and HBK
