Smackdown Results 27, November 2009

This weeks Smackdown proved to be somewhat bittersweet for me as the fan I am. Seeing The Undertaker and Chris Jericho square off at last has been a thing of beauty. But as of tonight and according to the wonderful rumormill out there, it would seem as though their rivalry will be nothing more than a passing of two ships in the night. Can they really put aside this potential goldmine of a rivalry in favor of giving Batista yet another shot at a feud that was already played out to tedium not so long ago? It’s no secret I’m no big fan of Batista and I wont go into why here as I’m sure it is not the opinion of the rest of PhenomForever.com’s staff. Let’s just say I wouldnt miss him if he took a long walk off a short cliff and leave it at that. Batista vs The Undertaker has to be one of my least favorite feuds of the past, oh, ten years! It was long and drawn out and injury filled. Now they want to do it again? I have to question the WWE’s logic in this one. Is it purely a case of the ‘Sunday Brunch Club’ as alluded to by a certain departed Kennedy? Is there some special reason why a guy that’s spent the majority of the year injured should come back in and automatically get a shot? Because with Chris Jericho standing right there offering a perfect feud opportunity. I completely fail to see the logic in tearing those two apart in order to repeat a feud that was best left dead and buried in the first place.
Still, what do I know…
Well I’ll tell you what I know. I’m a fan and I know what I like. I know what I enjoy. Batista is not it and a repeated feud is not it either. So someone explain this logic to me. New feud Vs old feud. It’s not brain surgery to figure out which one would be more pleasing to the fans.
Anyway before I get beyond myself on a rant about the injustice of it all I will rein myself in and instead take a look at the good points of this show. Chris Jericho Vs The Undertaker one on one; it was a thing of fangirl beauty. To me the pair are working superbly together. They have a fluidity about them that to watch suckers you right into the story they’re telling in there. I maintain my opinion that if these two would be given the opportunity to take this to a grander stage they would give it all they had and put on a clinic to rival Shawn & Taker’s effort this past year. Alas, it seems as though we are doomed to watch Batista bumble around being all rawr for another few months. Let me restrain my excitement, it’s almost too much to bear.
Tonight Taker and Chris put on a great show, a good solid wrestling match full of traditional signature moves and a good bit of mat wrestling. Taker seems to thrive off of those opponents that will hit the mat with him as well as go there with the high risk stuff. I’ve never been too fond of his ‘giant’ and ‘muscle’ feuds. The Undertaker has one of the best brains in the business and watching him use it against an opponent that ‘gets it’ too is wonderful to see. Sadly though, despite the developing awesomeness in the ring, Batista sat himself down at ringside and proceeded to be an emotionless lump with all the charisma of a squashed beetle. He sapped the fun out of the entire scene and to me he’d have been better served performing a run in attack as opposed to sitting there stealing spotlight. He eventually interfered, costing Jericho the match as The Undertaker won via DQ. What followed was a particularly brutal beatdown from Batista using a steel chair. Ouch, I don’t care if you’re Muhammad ‘Im Hard’ Bruce Lee! That’s gonna sting!
Smackdown went off the air with The Undertaker down and out on the mat, Batista standing over him and Chris Jericho removed from the picture. Sadly, I cant help but maintain a sinking feeling that that will be all she wrote for the dream feud I’ve been looking forward to. Instead we’ll be treated to Batista Vs Taker round two. Oh yey.
Boo.

I agree with Jen. This crap has to stop eventually. Taker vs. Jericho was in the making’s of being a great feud. Taker vs. Batista was played out I feel, even before WM 23. I dont get to watch Smackdown because I have ghetto cable, so Im sure Jen was just as sick as I was when I heard the news on PhenomForever.com. Its pathetic. Taker gets the title, and yet again has to push someone thats been injured for months, and now they’re gonna give the title away. I think Im gonna throw up. Seriously.
Everyone here knows I don’t care much for Jericho and that I would much, much rather see ‘Taker take on a big, powerful man like Batista, but come on, is that as creative as the WWE writers get? I don’t want ‘Taker to drop the title to Batista–that’s a no-no. It means there would have to be payback eventually and that would mean a third feud between the two men. That, or this upcoming feud is going to be unbearably long and painful.
If it were up to me, John Cena would be it. There are two types of obnoxious children: those who have to be ignored and those who have to be punished. To me, Jericho is like the former and Cena like the latter.
Ohh, Batista has done it now! At TLC Batista will Rest in Peace and the long reign still progresses! Plus I think Taker will enter Wrestlemania with the title and update the streak from 17-0 to 18-0! John Cena Chris Jericho whatever, one of these men at Wrestlemania XXVI will Rest in Peace!
F*** Batista. Undertaker will win
well wwe is stupid to let this happen i hope its just a feud filler until we get to see taker vs y2j or could we see john cena some how come to smackdown in a trade of sorts. it is statting to come full circle again why wwe let taker face basista again is beyond me,
Another short reign for Taker? Why, that is surprising!! (BTW, I’m being sarcastic)
I agree with Jen again. Jericho has worked his ass of since coming back, and Batista had a good couple of years but now I think he is done! I dont want to see him against Taker, they did that and they did it well so just stop it!!
I might be wrong here, but I don’t think there will be a real feud for taker with Batista. IMO, it’s more likely that this will give Jericho a chance to conclude his Jeri-show storyline on TLC. What I see happening is probably Kane interfering in the Batsita-Taker match in some way to start a feud with Batista and then Jericho comes back to continue the feud with Taker.
The thing is, Jericho is now the tag team champion, he can’t go with 2 different story-lines at the same time for more than a couple of weeks. Because both his storyline involve a championship belt, the WWE don’t want to end the first one on just a regular smackdown show, it has to be done in a PPV, but they can’t leave that PPV without a world heavyweight championship match, so in comes Batista and fills the gap until Jericho can continue the feud full time.
This is another boring feud. No matter if Taker wins or loses the belt, this feud will still remain lame. Why couldn’t they leave Batista on RAW. He could’ve attacked Evan Bourne to become dirty, finished him at Survivor Series, and go on to challenge John Cena for the title. Because their feud was cut short due to Cena’s injury. Other than that I would rather see Edge and Taker feud again, than to see Undertaker vs. Batista. Because Edge is the man people love to hate, and he’s so sneaky and underhanded. But from what I hear he will come back as a face. So Undertaker really doesn’t have any good competition but Batista, Kane, and Jericho. The only way he could get a good long title run is if he goes dirty. Think about it… The Lord of Darkness returns to take over Smackdown, and steal the souls of the WWE Superstars with help from the Creatures of the Night.
And I thought Taker vs. Orton got old fast…
Hey what did u mean when u wrote ” Muhammad”? i didn’t get u but if that was in the negative sense then i would like to ask u to correct it Plz
remove this name plz
Hey David you can wattch smackdown on hulu.com
You never know. They could let DX win the Unified Tag Team belts and then put Jericho in the WHC contenders spot and have him face off Taker at the Royal Rumble or somthing.
poor Taker!!!! I hope he will be ok at TLC!!! Batista is hardcore but taker is dominant!
It may not be a Batista Feud and there is still hope, Maybe Jericho will interfere costing taker the title, then Jericho will have to pay and the feud is back on!?

It wasnt in a negative sense. its a reference to the famous boxer. It’s actually a compliment.
batista doesn’t deserve to be in the same dimension as those two legends undertaker and chris jericho
I Too Agree with the Beautiful Jen.
Because I think the Taker vs. Jericho
Is the Best Match, but… All of a Sudden
Batista , Got up for Nothin’ went up to The Undertaker and just looked at ‘em
and The undertaker looked at B.
The Undertaker Didn’t Notice, Batista was goin’ to slam him with his Metal chair
I think I Really don’t like this match at all now.
This Match Is The Greatest Thing But.. the Animal Just Ruined it for the Undertaker’s Title
He Just Loses from a Chair ”The Undertaker can undercome anything” but a Steel Chair
He Cant undercome because Chris Jericho Is stupid ”The Animal Is Such a Sore to see when hurting the Satan of WWE’s SmackDown”
The satanic image of the undertaker was nice.
