Brodie Talks Taker: Thoughts on Taker
Filed in Blogs From The Dark Side. Posted by BrodieTaker1 on November 26th, 2009. Add Comments? [4]

Take this blog as what you will but this my opinion and I want to share it. In my last blog which was before SummerSlam and in that blog I said that the Undertaker should not return to the WWE at SummerSlam and didn’t need a new title reign. Well surface to say both of these things happened and whether it was right or wrong I’ll write about in this blog.

First I’ll begin at the Undertaker’s return at SummerSlam. I’ll be the first to say it was awesome, I loved the return when he appeared and took apart CM Punk – but was it fair? I am an Undertaker fan and a wrestling fan but do not think the way he returned was the best thing for him.

Lets think about it – the Undertaker appeared at WWE’s second most important PPV and took CM Punk’s moment after he won his match clean.

Now in this time of WWE desperately needing new stars the Undertaker has come in and buried CM Punk as a main eventer and took his title.

The Undertaker did not need a title reign and did not need to return at Summerslam. Undertaker is hurt he doesn’t need to be wrestling at the moment, I mean look the Undertaker is a legend and what do legends do when they are in the later part of their career – they put over the young guys.

Now I have not one problem with the Undertaker being champion as long as he is fighting young guys who need the push. Now after the Undertaker beat CM Punk and he may have buried him as a main eventer. I have no doubt that the CM Punk will come back but with no help from ‘Taker. Now this blog so far has been pretty negative towards the Undertaker hasn’t it? Well I don’t blame the Undertaker for the the WWE’s terrible booking and I don’t think Mr Mark Calaway would want to be booked the way he has either. The Undertaker has prided himself as being a man who builds up new talent and he has been doing this for probably the last 7 years.

Before I go into more detail I’m going to make a little side note. How much did his rivalry with CM Punk suck, that was an awful rivalry – what was the point of the Undertaker and CM Punk having a 12 minute match, which saw the Undertaker win the title at probably the weakest point of his career. And yes this is his weakest point as he is older and has just had hip surgery, so is not moving or working as well as we would expect and that’s what being a pro wrestler for 22 years will do to a body. However do I see the Undertaker coming back and being as good as he has ever been? Yes I do, he’s just that type of guy but he needs to go on a limited schedule so he will be able to wrestle longer.

So what is the point in the Undertaker being the world champion, he’s already a legend, his championship run isn’t putting anyone over and he can’t wrestle for more than 20 minutes due to his injury. So why have him back as the champion and risk getting himself permanently injured, well I can’t answer that and I can only speculate and the only reason I can think of is the WWE is giving the Undertaker fans the long title reign we have longed for. However, in all honesty do we want this? Do we want the Undertaker to have crap title matches against opponents who do not need the push. If the Undertaker has to be wrestling now I would rather see him pushing young talent to be the champion. When WrestleMania rolls around I would like to see him go up against a top guy and have the best match on the card, then go on his way and have the time off and not risk injury.

We all want to see the Undertaker go to 20 and 0 and that will not happen if WWE need to keep rushing the Phenom back because they can’t make new stars. I would rather see the Undertaker go to 20 and 0 or more and only wrestle from January to April or May.

Now I do realize this blog may seem negative but if you really understand then its not. I know the Undertaker loves to wrestle but I would rather see him back pushing the younger guys rather than being in the spot light himself, so this is a message to the WWE and this is please for the love of god push new talent. The Undertaker may face Cena at WrestleMania and it will be the best match of the card but that’s if the WWE don’t fuck it up and injure the Undertaker before then.

So thanks for reading and please follow me on Twitter and subscribe to my videos on YouTube on the links below so thanks for reading and give your feedback so thanks and bye.

Some of it I agree with most of it I don’t. First and foremost the attack on Punk was done simply because he is THE UNDERTAKER and that he can do that, he does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. I’ve said plenty of times taker isn’t face nor heel hes neutral just because we cheer him it makes him face(to some).

As far as taker being hurt…Yes that maybe true but i’m not about the maybe i’m about the fact and fact is taker is looking better and better each week in terms of physical strength and mobility in the ring.

Taker was putting over superstars well before he was a legend so that to me is a cardinal sin to try to hold against him, he has ALWAYS put younger talent over even before he was 20 years in the business. I actually believe superstars like Rock, Austin, Edge, Kurt, etc need to be thankful to taker..look at what hes done to their careers by putting them over. Just because he beats punk and taker the title doesn’t mean hes not doing that.

His title reign is fine, hes a legend but there are plenty of legends who have had title teigns and didn’t need them one has had them 13 times and still is going for #14 and more than likely will succeed. Vince is behind that he knows the fans wants it so he gives it best thing to do is shut up and enjoy it. Takers matches Hell in a Cell, Fatal 4 way, Triple Threat title matchs may have been short but they are far from “crap” you want crap go to Raw and watch their champ and when taker gets like that which he never ever will then you can call him crap.

Do I believe taker can make 20-0 of course regardless if hes champ or not he will, regardless if he gets injured or not he will…not so much as the Undertaker but more or less Mark Calaway himself because its in his heart and in his soul, he does it for us, I think he could careless if he gets injured and has to take time out he’d still come back for that 20-0. Taker getting permanently injured is a risk ALL wrestlers take and champions more so, he knows it, Vince knows it, they will work around it.

Taker doesn’t need to pushh any career, he’s done it, Cena, Batista, Edge, etc. I understand what you’re trying to say, but I just can’t imagine a Wrestlemania match fecing our Taker versus Dibiasi or R Truth that will be awfull no sense, Taker neither needs to face Cena it would be much better for Cena to face this legend but the main point is what the fans want to see, I know Taker’s career is about to end, so I prefer to see the best matches as possibles than being afraid and never see Taker vs Cena or Jeff Hardy or Jericho for a tittle much better. At Mr Calloway’s age, injuries can happen at anytime anyway. in the other hand, I agree maybe Taker should not return so quickly if he was not totally well, his appereance coulde be in risk and his tittle matches haven’t been as spectacular as we fans are got used, but I don’t know waht WWE and we had done without Taker so long, I know you’re mabe right but I’d like to see Taker more and more althought it would be some minutes only. What I really thing is that WWE does not worry for making good storylines like before, I remember Taker vs Edge was great!!! Anyway I really ike to see Taker wrestling if it is for the tittle much better, it adss more excitment.

Nice blog. I agree with a lot of it. But honestly this is not his lowest point! In mid-late 1999 he was completely messed up and weighed a legit 325 pounds! Nowadays his style is more evolved, and he is in great shape! But yeah HIAC match against Punk was a disaster, really sad. Not Takers fault though honestly.

It`s WWE’s fault , last year Taker did not need to appear so long for geting us exited very very exited, I remember his surprising appearences for scaring Edge and “la Familia” was great!!! and the feud versus Batista was even better, that time Taker was the real WWE’s main eventer above Cena and all the RAW staff, I think Samackdown had more rating than RAW, in the USA, because in Mexico for example, Smack has always won, anyway, nowadays, WWE has took care for RAW and has forgotten Smack and Taker included, he could appear for a while and being totally exciting, but WWE most think more about creating better storylines even for RAW which has become a circus and not the WWE real scence that made us fall in love with it, Batista has said it too. Finally I hope to see great Taker’s appearences and more often. The perfect wrestle for Taker at Wrestlemania for me would be Taker vs the Rock or Jeff Hardy for the WHC.
