They haven’t nominated him, because they don’t want Undertaker recieving any awards because of kayfabe bullcrap. It’s gay, but that’s exactly what WWE has become since it’s PG rating.

The reason for this is if you say to creative what about the undertaker, the current bunch of idiots will probably say ‘who?!’

Underaker should have been nominated. Hopefully he is nominated for another award and wins it. this really sucks, some of the guys on the list don’t deserve to be nominated. WWE is making a huge mistake.

They slighted him. His year was as good as any on the list. Edge, Cena, and Orton all missed appreciable time due to injury just as Taker did. Taker deserves to be on the list too.

Mmm my problem with the nominations ISNT that I think he should win it. He probably shouldnt, he’s had his share of problems this year too. My problem with it is he wasnt NOMINATED.. when he’s been one of the years hardest workers. Now they can nominate him and have him not win it, and that’d be fine. No damage to his character.. the nod is enough.

But when people like Cena, whos been out most of the year, Edge.. who has also been out ages. Jeff Hardy whos done nothing but lose and Batista whos done…. what.. exactly? Aside from bitch and complain. When those people are given the nod, and not Taker? I know it’s all scripted, but that seems like a kick in the teeth to me. I wouldnt expect him to win it, but he should be on the list. No harm could come to his ‘kayfabe’ by simply being nominated.

All I can say is “WHAAAT?!”
Oh alright, its not ALL I can say :-) …seriously, if Edge is nominated, that ought to make a good case for Taker being nominated too, since they spent the whole year feuding. And most of that feud contained great matches. On the list of things that make you say “What the Falkland Islands!” :-)

I don’t think Undertaker needed to be nominated this year because he won the last time. I think the WWE needs to give either Edge or Jeff Hardy the Award this year. That’s just my opinion. =) I’m not saying Undertaker dident do great this year. I just think Edge and Jeff did a better job.

I was disapointed with the nominations. This is only my opinon what is to follow and it is only based on their ppv wins over the past year for each superstar. Jericho’s begins with Armageddon 07 because that is his first ppv back. So if I missed info, i’m sorry, if you find this annoying, i’m sorry too, if you think I’m dissing the superstars you might be right, but all this is in my opinion. Personally Undertaker and Shawn Michaels should have made the list along with Matt Hardy and CM Punk.

Let’s break down the past year for Jericho…
he came back in a WWE title match which he did not win the belt, lost to JBL, lost the elimination chamber, lost in the MITB, lost to HBK, lost IC title to Kofi Kingston beat HBK, won the world title twice in two months, lost it twice within three months then lost to John Cena with losing alot of Raw matches during his world title reins…..yes a superstar of the year canidate alright, might have had good promos and a good rivalry with HBK, but I can’t say he deserved superstar of the year.
Now Cena….
Returned to win the rumble, did not win the title against Randy Orton, lost at wrestlemania, lost at Backlash, rivalved with JBL only to lose in the end, lost to Triple H, lost to Batista while getting injured, came back to win the world title…..while his match against Batista was outstanding that does not make him worthy to me.
Now Batista…
survived to the final three in rumble but lost, lost elimination chamber, beat Umaga, lost to HBK, beat HBK, lost to Edge, No contest with CM Punk, beat Cena, lost scramble, won world title then lost it two weeks later, lost at survivor series….not a very impressive year, but his matches were pretty decent so he has a chance.
Now Edge…
beat rey mysterio twice, lost title to undertaker, lost rematch to undertaker, beat undertaker, beat Batista, lost world title next night, lost to Triple H, lost to returning Undertaker, returns at survivor series to win WWE title in 3 minutes…..I can’t say his win loss record is impressive, but his matches were pretty good so can be a contender.
Now Jeff Hardy…
lost to Randy orton, was suspended, beat MVP, beat Umaga, lost to MVP, lost the scramble, lost to Triple H twice in the same month, gets screwed out of WWE title shot at survivor series….I could imagine he would have had the greatest year of his life if not for his personal problems. He would have been most likely to win and might still do so based on merrit of beat Undertaker and Triple H.
Now Triple H…
lost Rumble, won chamber match, lost at wrestlemania, won WWE title, beat Randy twice in one month, defearted John Cena, defeated Edge, defeated Khali, won scramble, beat Hardy twice in a month, lost WWE title to Edge at survivor series…he is the only one with an impressive resume concerning this year which makes him have a great chance of winning, but should he well I can’t say yes considering his role in the company.

Oh well, we all know that he is the best. We don’t need their stupid award.

Not only should he be on that list he should be the winner. No question. Game set, and match. Taker is the very best in WWE. Of course if it were up to me he’d win everything, all day, everyday. LOL!! I’m just that damn loyal to him.

Hardy shouldn’t be on this list due to his infraction on the Wellness Policy and subsequent suspension. Taker had just as good a year as anybody on the list. True what Jen said, he doesn’t have to win. At least nominate him to it.

Lasted thirty minutes in the rumble, won the elimination chamber match being one of the two superstars to start it, beat edge for the World Heavyweight Title, beat edge to retain, beat edge via count out, lost to edge in TLC, was fired, returns to beat edge in HITC, lost to Big show, beat big show twice…if Hardy can be nominated for doing drugs then Undertaker should qualify for getting screwed over for the world title then injured.

No, I disagree, my reason being, the undertaker hs made more achievements than edge or jeff hardy. They have both been injured too many times this year, and the undertaker has not been injured for a long, long time.

Taker(He Had Injury issues but performed well early stages of the year)
Punk(Lightened up Cena was injured most the year)

Well if you think about it, Taker has been injured for a portion of the year. He may have won the WHC this year and had great matches but the rest, to be completely honest, has been aboslute rubbish. His feud with Big Show was so boring and the matches were rubbish as well.

Well I wouldn’t put taker on right away because his feud in the begining of the year was continued from last year and after that he ‘lost his job’ came back and went strait to big show so well…

It is not the fact he wasn’t put on, its the principle. Compared to some of the contenders, Undertaker has had a better year. Edge was gone from August to November (3 months), Undertaker was gone from June to August (2 months), Cena was gone 3 months and Hardy was gone 2 months as well so his leave of absense shoud not interfere since everyone else had their own issues.

i can understand jericho in there because he is a good wrestler.batista can’t do shit,john cena gets kids watching,triple h can’t wrestle,edge is pretty good but not the best.

The difference between Hardy and say Edge is one was injured the other failed a drug test. Most jobs I know you fail a drug 2test you get fired. You don’t get nominated for employee of the year.

Undertaker’s hell in the cell match against Edge is a contender for the match of the year canidate. Why the 2008 royal rumble is there I don’t know, but I defetnally know what match I’d like to see win and it isn’t Undertaker’s. Sorry guys, The hell in the cell was good, but I can’t call it match of the year.

Despite Undertaker’s injury, he still deserved a nomination for the impact he has had all year long. If Cena can be there despite his time off due to injury, then why not Taker? This has nothing to do with his character as he has won “Star of the highest magnitude” earlier in his dark-side persona. I think its because the WWE wants to give a chance to the newer stars. They know that if Taker gets nominated, he will win it for sure. For all you know, Taker might have pulled back his nomination himself, saying that he does not want to nominated in that category.

Here are my picks for the winners (these are not my choices) but what I think the WWE will choose:

* Superstar of the year – HHH (I think I can guarantee this 99%)
* Match of the year – I thought it will be Batista vs John Cena or the Smackdown elimination chamber match, but since those 2 didn’t make it to the final list on the page that Trindle posted, I guess it will be Taker vs Edge at Hell in a Cell
* OMG moment of the year – Taker throwing Edge from the top of the ladder to the ring (sending him to hell) and burning him after their Hell in a Cell match, or CM Punk winning the title from Edge by cashing his money in the bank or Stone Cold’s beer bath to Santino and Maria
* Diva of the year – Beth Phoenix
* DAMN Moment of the year – Vince putting a retirement stipulation to Flair’s matches or Taker’s title being stripped or Taker being banished or being reinstated!
* Tag Team of the Year – Miz & Morrison or Dibiase & Rhodes
* Best Musical Performance – Jillian Hall for one of her ballads ;-) rather, it could be one of the live performances given by some bands at PPVs
* Best Finishing Maneveur – Hell’s Gate (Undertaker’s Gogoplata) – they have really advertized it a lot and so far it has never been broken
* Extreme Moment of the Year – Chris Jericho hurting Shawn Michaels’ wife or hurting his eye or one of Jeff Hardy’s swanton bombs
* Couple of the Year – Edge and Vickie
* Breakout Star of the Year – Vladimir Kozlov (lacks gimmick) or Dibiase
* Announcer of the Year – JR (who else? Cole? I don’t think so)
* Best WWE.com Exclusive – Undertaker giving salute to Ric Flair during his farewell after Raw TV tapings
* Best Impersonation – Charlie Haas for Stone Cold Steve Haastin or the Great Charli (or any of his impersonations) or Santino Marella for Stone Cold Steve Austin

As we can see, Taker has strong contendership for several other awards here apart from the Superstar of the year, but I don’t think he will win too many. Maybe 2 or 3 at max (I would like to see him do a clean-sweep at the Slammys like he did in 1997 because after that he started his longest ever title reign).

I picked that one myself. It was the perfect way to end a career. The build for it and the celebration on tv the following night was very good if not brilliant.

Who cares! We all know that Undertaker’s #1, and nothing will ever change that. “There’s only one Undertaker” as Vince McMahon commented years ago when he still did commentary.

I can’t understand… the winner of Smackdown/ECW Elimination Chamber #1 contender match , the winner of WM24 main event, a 2008 world heavyweight champion, a wrestler that was in the 2 most brutal matches in 2008 (TLC match at One Night Stand and hell in a cell at Summerslam) and more…is not nominated for wrestler of the year? Maybe in Stanford are all alcholists!

I think the reason why Edge was nominated over Undertaker is because Edge won two world titles this year.

Then if somebody fails a drug test like Hardy did, does that merit a nomination over Taker too?

Batista’s title reign this year was lesser than Taker’s, and the same goes for Cena. And on what basis is Hardy even there apart from that the kids like him?

I have a new list, which should be made the list of nominations for the superstar of the year:

Jeff Hardy – defeated HHH in non-title matches, and even Undertaker, and also participated in more title matches than anyone else (though he lost all). Forget the drugs – the kids of today’s rated PG 13 era don’t care about them

Matt Hardy – ECW champion for a long time, wow!

Rey Mysterio – come on, he defeated Kane, the second most dominant monster of all time in WWE history

Edge – made his way to the top by being the love of Vickie, and also got Taker’s title stripped and got him banished – something that no other superstar has ever done!

Big SLow – knocked out the most dominant force in the history of pro-wrestling, the man from the dark-side, the unliving legend whose powers are not human but supernatural, the Undertaker by JUST one punch – now, who in 18 years has even been able to do that? (who cares if he used an exposed steel turnbuckle? Only the guys who win through interference or cheap-shots are the ones rewarded these days)

John Cena – no list in the current scheme of WWE things is complete without this great man, whom many already consider to be the greatest of all time. Gone are the days when Undertaker threw Mankind from the top of the cell or flew over the top rope which was on fire, or the days when Hogan body-slammed Andre, or when Stone Cold stunned the chairman. These days, being good-looking and rapping are the only things which matter.
