Oldschool RAW kicked off with nothing other than the return of the Phenom himself, The Undertaker! Emerging from the oldschool set to stand upon the stage and raise hell in flames, he stood beneath the Wrestlemania logo. An ominous foreshadowing of events to come.
After credits rolled, CM Punk was welcomed to the ring and was in a bad mood. If he’s not the Main Event of Wrestlemania then he feels like he shouldn’t be there at all. However, being as the WWE want to take something from him, he’ll take something from us. The Undertakers streak! CM Punk officially challenging the Deadman to a match at Wrestlemania with the infamous streak on the line. However, it wasn’t Taker to answer this call, instead it was Randy Orton! Orton heading to the ring to tell CM Punk he wasn’t good enough to face Taker at Mania and instead it should be him! Cue Big Show… stating that he’s the only one equipped to break the streak these days. You need to be more than a viper, or straight edge, you need to be a Giant! Claiming he was going to knock the streak in to oblivion.
Cue Sheamus! Claiming he’s the only one that’s never faced The Undertaker, meaning he’s the only one that’s never lost to him. Meaning he should be the one to take on The Undertaker. Last but not least Vickie Guerrero.. no, she doesn’t challenge Taker.. instead she declares whoever goes on to defeat Taker at Wrestlemania will cement his legacy as the greatest of all time.
Later on in the night CM Punk took on Orton, Sheamus and Big Show in the Main Event and after a hard fought battle. CM Punk came out on top! So it’s official, The Undertaker faces Punk at Wrestlemania with the streak on the line. Be careful what you wish for Punk, as he celebrated his win in the ring, The Undertaker’s ominous Gong sounded and he emerged from the darkness to stare down his opponent.

True that we all may think the outcome is Punk winning, but WWE has thrown curve balls before. Sheamus winning would be neat too. This doesn’t mean I believe that Sheamus will win though. Just giving my opinion on the matter. If you don’t want spoilers, I would suggest staying away from this site until you watch because not everyone will see your post and might spoil things for you.

I literally marked out so hard when I first heard the gong because I never expected him to open the show! I knew he was going to return tonight, but wasn’t expecting to see him at the very beginning. SO awesome. We all know who’s going to win the Fatal 4-Way, but I’m just looking forward to what’s gonna happen after the match is over. Perhaps Taker’ will show up on the ramp again and do the cut-throat sign or maybe even do something physical (which I sincerely hope LOL)

As stated by Ken and RIP2020, avoid this post at all costs if you don’t wanna be spoiled.
I also like the fact that someone has to win a match in order to earn the right to face Taker rather than come out right out and challenge him. Having to win a match in order to get a shot at The Streak really emphasizes its importance and value.

Yeah, and it also makes it alot more exciting. We haven’t seen anyone compete in order to determine who will face Undertaker at WM ever since WM 25, when Shawn beat Vladimir Kozlov to earn the right to face Taker.

The crowd was not that bad, but I am willing to bet that they knew it was coming sooner or later tonight. His returns are always better unannounced. I have heard better reactions, but the crowd is not like it was years ago.

so now we will have a build up on two matches for Wrestlemania tonight. Cause we all know that The Shield will interfere on CM Punks behalf so he will face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. However, now that The Shield interfered now we have Big Show, Randy Orton, and Sheamus will face The Shield

The crowd did not completely suck. They were a decent crowd. Better than most crowds to say the least. The reason the roof didn’t completely blow off the arena is because everyone already knew that Taker was going to return tonight sooner or later. Thank the WWE for spoiling Taker’s return at the house show and then posting an article on WWE.com about his return. If they kept his return silent, I’m sure the crowd would’ve gone crazy.

First off I want to happily say I WAS WRONG. But to be honest, I didn’t want to see yet another repeat match from the past. Kane is two times, HBK is two times, Triple H is three and now CM Punk will have his second. Who’s Taker’s opponent going to be at WM30…Kane? Sheamus would have been different, but that’s the WWE for ya…making a ‘good guy/heel’ match instead of just two great wrestlers going at it….to be UNPREDICTABLE. They did it when Taker faced Batista (a fan favorite at the time before turning ‘heel’). But I guess what’s done is done. Can’t wait to see what CM Punk has to say as WM29 quickly approaches.

@ Maziar:
Yea I know he is a great superstar and I am sure he will build the momentum needed, but I honestly have to say that he has some convincing to do. At this point, I am not at all convinced that Punk can defeat Taker and that, if you have seen the past several Taker matches, is a big part of the story line. You have to make us believe that the streak may actually end and I just don’t get that from him. I understand that the match was just made and everything, but the momentum he had has crumbled a bit and to me, it hurts that selling point right now. That is all I am worried about. I love to sit there the entire match and wonder if Taker is actually going to lose. It is a big drawing point that leaves you on edge.

The Taker retirement rumors are going viral all over the Wrestling Section of Yahoo Answers (incase nobody has been there….. http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/i.....=396546411)
Honestly, this pisses me off so much. I’ve never seen so many people talk about the streak ending and Taker retiring like how I do now. Everyone thinks that CM Punk is going to break the streak because Undertaker supposedly said that he wouldn’t mind if Punk was the one to do it. And then they claim that he will retire after WM 29 because he’s too old.
I’m not sure if those people are trolling or if they’re just plain retarded.
- RIP2020 on March 5th, 2013 says:

Don’t worry about what these people say. They are not Undertaker. Only he knows when he will retire and he knows who will walk out of Wrestlemania the winner this year. I have not heard about Undertaker accepting Punk as the guy to end the streak, so I have to say that is a load of bull. If someone has a source proving otherwise, I will continue to believe that is a load of crap. Taker is not “Too old.” Look at Sting, Hogan, Flair, even Jim Duggan. Taker may be a bit “Old” in wrestling years, but he knows when he has had enough, not these people. Let them speculate. They don’t know any more than any of us do. I am not even going to read any of that information on your link just because I don’t feel like seeing people possibly bad mouthing Taker or anything like that.

Hey. Leave Sting out of that list. He and Taker are very alike. Hogan, Flair and Duggan don’t know when to quit. Hogan’s repeatedly said he’d wrestle one last match for years. But he keeps getting back in there. I believe Lawler’s heart attack smartened Flair up so hopefully he’s done wrestling too.
But Sting looks and moves damn good in the ring as does Taker. They get better as time goes on. They’ve evolved too. Sting hasn’t adapted as his move set in the same. That’s one of very, very few differences.
I also haven’t heard of Taker saying he’s ok with Punk ending The Streak. Yahoo answers are comprised of opinions from viewers, no sources. The only sources that are reliable lie in Taker and WWE. They’re not talking which is good because I wanna be surprised. Taker never really talks about future plans. He’s as old school as they get and maintains the old school protect the business mentality. And he’s willing to put his own Streak on the line for the betterment of the company he’s been so loyal to. I’m alluding to the rumors that stated he wanted Kane to end it. Had Kane accepted that honor, perhaps he wouldn’t be where he is now in terms of character direction. Still, the time for The Streak has long passed and everyone has their own opinion about when would’ve been the right time to end it. My opinion is if it was gonna end, it should’ve been broken by someone with a future in WWE or the business in general and before The Streak was acknowledged. Kane at WM14 was the best time IMO as that was so one sided as he dominated and beat the hell out of a younger, healthier Taker. Kane also kicked out of two Tombstones and although he didn’t win the match, he left the arena like the true winner because in a sense, he was. And Kane’s someone who’s remained loyal in WWE since then so he’d have been the perfect candidate if you ask me. Had he did, his career may have been better than it actually turned out to be. He’s long overdue for a Rumble win and a main event Title match at WM.

Firstly, the “gong” wwe choose to use thesedays is terrible. It’s so weak. Back in 2004 before his darkside return they used the best gong sound ever. Should never have changed it.
Secondly, leaving the undertakers opponent down to Vicki Guerrero? Damn…. Undertaker should have atleast spoke and not just appear for 2 minutes and do nothing.
Thirdly, a better scenario for this would have been CM Punk coming out and stating that the wwe is going downhill if it has to resort to “all these washed up old wrestlers” and ect ect, you get the idea, this would then have cued undertaker to come out and lay down a challenge. Not just have some match that we all knew the outcome of.

Well the time has finally come and i have to say i was really impressed with how they handle Takers return…. I was a bit caught off guard and surprised that they had him come out first thing at the beginning of the show, but i could see why as the show progressed…. The idea of having some of the top superstars battle for it was cool and the match almost threw us a curve ball as their were some points where i almost thought that they might of changed their minds on Punk winning…. I also loved how Taker came out and gave Punk a stare down after the match. Gotta say i love that coat he wears now and any one who says hes outta shape, well I’m just not listenin to that LOL…. Taker is back and thats all that matters at this point….. Hell ive already cracked open some beers in celebration!!!! Cheers Deadman!!!

WOHOO!! he’s back!!
I wanted to address a few points to conclude something and introduce something else.
1). His return was awesome, usual awe inspiring experience. I was surprised he kicked off RAW and ended-to me it meant a lot. So that was great!
2) I don’t think anyone had a doubt on the 4 way match. It reminded me back in 2009 when HBK beat Kozlov to face Taker. I think they did an amazing job building that match throughout the whole show. I never expected that match to be the main event, so to speak, of the evening. I thought HHH was going to end the show. So, the way it concluded was even better!
3) I just wanted to say this because this is really important. If we didn’t learn anything throughout these couple of months, it is one thing. NEVER BELIEVE RUMOURS. This served quite a good lesson to me in the first place-when it comes to the Undertaker, we should never go into conclusions cause he did show up and quite frankly he’s gonna wrestle as well- so yeah…it ain’t over till its over
and 4)…21-0 :D

While they did their best to make us believe that this rumor is true, I don’t believe it simply because Punk reportedly stated that he is not going to be around much longer either. Why give someone who won’t be around much longer the honor of breaking the streak. I can understand Taker’s view on the streak, but it is so hard to put such a risk on someone ending the streak. Someone could end it and then completely bomb. The streak should remain forever as a part of history. It is already at that legendary status. I see no reason to break it now that it is so high. Even JR doesn’t see the point in ending it and he is much more trustworthy than some dirt sheet.

I mentioned sting only because of his age. I was not saying he is a moron for competing at his age or anything. Simply stating that he is one of several men that still compete which just proves that only they know when they will be done. I loved Sting in WCW and I would never bash him. The other men however have gone a bit too far and kind of tarnished their legacy. They can’t stay away from the spotlight. That is my opinion of course.
Sorry about thinking you were bashing Sting. Seemed like that at first by your choice of words. Now it’s clear that you weren’t bashing him so I agree.

Of course Punk’s not ending it. The Streak shouldn’t end. The time for that long passed. I’ve stated this countless times.
Maybe Sheamus will get his shot later somewhere. That’s up to him. He’s not quite ready yet. But he’s nearly there IMO. Just needs a bit more time. Lately, it seems as if he’s lost a bit of his edge and became a friendly guy. Don’t get me wrong. When the bell rings, he does what he has to do. But he’s a face so he’s catering to the crowd now. I want the Sheamus to kicked Cena’s ass at TLC to win his first World Title, the guy who beat people up and nearly ended HHH’s career, the guy who really loved to fight….the heel Shamus as opposed to who we’re seeing now to face Taker as it is that heel who’ll be more of a challenge to The Streak than the current Sheamus. Besides, it seems Sheamus along with Ryback and possibly Orton will face The Shield if Sheamus doesn’t end up facing Barrett, who he’s been having confrontations with lately.
Punk…..You may prefer Sheamus. It’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. But fact is Punk’s earned the right to face Taker this year. Not just by winning the Fatal 4 Way. But by what’s he done lately. He’s been on a massive momentum that’s been constantly getting stronger since 2011. And with all this talk about respect and his opening promo on Old School RAW, he’s the only logical choice. Can’t be denied.
@Fish:
I disagree. Taker will be remembered for more than The Streak. His character – the evolution, adaptation and execution of portrayal. The respect he’s earned in the ring, backstage, by those not in WWE or in the industry at all anymore. Not to mention, being the locker room leader. I have no doubt that he hung around backstage assuming that role and passing his priceless wisdom to the current roster of guys who were smart enough to approach him.
@Jessica:
I do not think for one second one loss will tarnish anything. Why? Because of what I said about to Fish. At this point, the only thing that can tarnish Taker would be wrestling when he clearly can’t anymore and he’s smart enough to stop when it is time to. His legacy is more than The Streak. The Streak is just a bonus. Taker’s legacy is his character for being the longest running gimmick in the WWE and the man who portrays it due to the respect he’s earned and continues to earn. That’s what I’ve always believed. Do I want The Streak to end? No. Do I think it will? Not by anyone. But being the guy Taker is, I wouldn’t be surprised if he chooses someone to do that. He doesn’t really need an undefeated record just like he doesn’t need Titles. He’s above and beyond both. With that said, the only way I’d accept The Streak being broken is if Taker decides that it should. It’s long been rumored that he feels it’s getting bigger and too big than WM. In a way, he’s right. It’s to the point of where people pay just to see The Streak being defended without caring much for any other match.
Off topic: I cannot believe WWE are rewarding Swagger for getting arrested by having him in a Title match at WM. If that’s what he gets for being arrested, maybe others will be doing what he did those to WM in hopes of being rewarded too. Hopefully I’m wrong there. They have more than enough suitable replacements for Swags and can easily come up with a storyline explanation for him being removed as WWE are good with that. With today’s ways of being as real as real can be, they can easily just have Jericho or someone tell the truth as to why Swagger’s out instead of coming up with a story line of they really wanted to.
I’d actually love to see Jericho vs Del Rio. Plus it makes the most sense because they were on The Highlight Reel together and both agreed that they’d face off at WM. Plus, Jericho’s known for being honest so I’d love for him to cut a promo saying why Swags is out just to stick it to that guy.
If for some reason they’re gonna continue to keep Swagger in the match, at least they should add Jericho, making it a triple threat. Even though I can’t see Jericho winning, having him or anyone for that matter be added to the match, it lessens Swagger’s chances of winning because that’s how triple threats are. The fact that he’s even in the match is rewarding and ridiculous enough. But to have him win??!! That’s too much. Even for WWE’s currently ridiculous ways of conducting business.

Let me rephrase- it wouldn’t tarnish his reputation & legacy, it would tarnish his 20 years of wins at WM with just one loss. Fact is, everyone would look at the loss, & not the incredible 20 wins. Not saying you or I would- or any of his dedicated fans for that matter, we know the man he is & the fact that he sacrificed his body for the good of the company he loves! I’d just hate to see people refer to that one loss in history, & forget about the rest. You know how wrestling novests are! Guess it doesn’t matter anyhow- win or lose there will never ever ever be another undertaker! He’s truly a remarkable person & character.
